Hi

I would say im quite on the pudgy side and was wondering if i would be able to lose some weight (mainly on my stomach and chest) by doing excercises i could do in the house? I have some 6Kg weights that i would also like to build some muscle with. I also walk my dogs every day probably about 1 or 2Km. I just don't like running much.

Some help please? :)

Thanks

Oh and im 15 :)

If you want to loose weight then cardio is what you should focus on. Do something that gets your heart rate up. Sorry I'm not much help but I don't know much about weight loss.

You want to start off slowly, what you're trying to do is reestablish your metabolism at a faster rate so it's burning more calories. And, you're making a (hopefully) permanent lifestyle change. So, think of weight loss as a mathematical formula: Weight=input (what you eat) - output (exercise). And, as we all recall from math, you always want to balance the equation, what you do to one side of the equation, you always do to the other. So, look up a sensible diet (low fat!, lots of fresh veggies and fruits, whole grains), and slowly add exercise. Start by doing the things you're already doing, but at a slightly faster rate. So, you might want to walk those dogs of yours at a faster rate, get yourself moving more (you're probably strolling now). When that's comfortable, you can add other exercise, maybe power walking alone, or bike riding, etc.

Weights are good for toning, but they're not efficient calorie burners, not the amount you need to lose the weight. If you add weights, always start off light, it shouldn't hurt at all (NOTE: the "no pain, no gain" is a myth!), and slowly add weight.

Stay with it, it takes time, be consistent, and don't get discouraged.

Im glad im not the only person.
I have a real thing about people watching me, therefore i wont go to the gym, i am thinking about going swimming from now on.
But i have tried doing a few sit ups etc. and it helps a bit but not much, all i want to do is drop a dress size which will happen by losing a few pounds.
The 'superman' tummy crunches do help a bit though i think they would work better if i had more exercise.

Ah, I was at this point a few weeks ago.
Try doing exercises that involve your own body weight.
As long as you get an hour total exercise in, you should start losing weight.
Try doing squats or pushups (If you're having problems doing at least 10, lean as far as you can, and push up against the wall 'till you can push up from the ground).
If you have a multi-story house, use the stairs to do a bit of exercise, going at a fast pace up and down them.

Getting rid of the fat is hard, I was much bigger than I am now, but what I did was cut down on the food, no snacks and smaller portions, this makes a big difference.

The key to loosing weight is burn more calories than you eat. If you want to just do home exercise then that can be tricky as the fastest way to loose the weight is cardio such as running.

You have weights, 6 kg is good. Do 12 reps, 3 sets which works out to 36 reps, do this every other day.

Push ups and situps can work well, try to do 10 push ups in one go, then rest and do another 10.
Try to do 20 situps - rest - another 20

This is good to get you started

As Xbox said, if you have stairs run up and down them quickly, go for 10 up and down
