Who am I, oh who am I?
They ask it again, they ask me why...
How can one not know themselves?
How can one not understand?
I try to tell them that I am
Who I am and nothing less...
But nothing more and nothing great,
I've never been spectacular...
But they won't have it, they want more,
Like what do I do, am I rich or poor?
I ask them if it matters oh,
They say yes it does of course...
I try to tell them logically
That I am just a nobody,
I try to tell them logically
That we're all just the same damn thing.
We're all just bricks
With glue we stick,
We hold up the wall,
Though we're not strong
Oh we hold up the wall
Though we don't know why...
How can we be anyone,
When we remain suppressed?
Held in place, constructed that way,
Not meant to move, not meant to change.
How we can have identity
When we're all clay bricks, tragically,
Stuck together, forced to hold
The weight of the world, oh the weight of the world...
We're all just bricks
With glue we stick,
We hold up the wall,
Though we're not strong
Oh we hold up the wall
Though we don't know why...
How can we have identity
When we're all clay bricks, tragically
Stuck together, forced to hold
The weight of the world, oh the weight of the world...
They turn away, not saying a word,
They hang their heads, ashamed, alarmed,
They look down, at the ground
And see the clay brick pathway... (Wow)
We're all just bricks
With glue we stick,
We hold up the wall,
Though we're not strong
Oh we hold up the wall,
Yet we don't know why...
They ask it again, they ask me why...
How can one not know themselves?
How can one not understand?
I try to tell them that I am
Who I am and nothing less...
