Um...don't go against the hairs. And yeah, it's hairs not grain. Grain is for wood.

If the shave is real close then when it grows back its going to itch also if you skin is soft and well moist (ya i know thiers a better word but I cant think right now) then that would help

Hair does grow in a 'grain', the 'grain' of the hair is the general direction that the hair grows in (ie. up, down, right, left). Hair that grows in all directions (Usually curly hair) has no grain.

Grain is not only for wood, but for metals, crystals, plants, animals, ect.

Hmm...I'll keep that in mind. I know what grain means and is, I know what he means when he says "against the grain" but I thought he was using the wrong term. Never knew grian could be used for more things than wood. .

never shave against the direction of hairgrowth (I wont use the word 'grain' for all u technically correct people). Shaving against the hair closesly can cause the hair to be pushed a little under the skin, causing a rash/pimply bumps, or in worst case an ingrown hair boil type thing which can suck. Just shave lightly to thin it out, dont try and get it totally smooth and if you have sensitive skin just dont shave at all, try trimming with scissors.

Same applies for face too ...
