Im bisexual, but I can still answer this ;)
1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay?
Ofcourse I'd care, but in a good way, support him, talk to him ect.
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward?
Nope
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc?
I'd find it as interesting, if not more, than straight people doing it :)
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend?
Nope
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend?
Yeh
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality? Hell yeh, he doesn't deserve bullying.
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently?
Nope

1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay? No, someone's sexuality is but one part of who they are. I also don't select friends based on just gender, either. Or hair color, ftm.
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward?
Nope. As long as they respected my heterosexuality.
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc? Nope. Nor would I care if they talked about the weather or what they like on their pizza.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend? I don't care what others think of me, so that would be irrelevant.
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend? Yup.
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality? I would defend anyone anytime who was being bullied or abused, regardless of their orientation, gender, race, religion, or which hand they wrote with.
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently? Nope.
We're all just people, afterall.

1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay? Nope, my best friend is bi and I don't mind at all
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward? Does not have any affect on our friendship.
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc? No, he does usually anyway
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend? Yes, this did happen once but I don't care what people think
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend? Yes of course, a friend is a friend, it shouldn't matter on their sexuality
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality? YES, if someone was bullieng him I would stick up for him the best i could
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently? No
Sexuality really shouldn't have any affect on friendship, you are friends with people because you like them.

1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay?
It's happened, and nah.
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward?
Nah.
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc?
I don't know how gay people do subtle things in relationships like send hints and use body language and flirt and things like that. So yes, it'd probably annoy me since I couldn't help him very much.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend?
I don't really care.
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend?
Sure, I guess.
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality?
I'd defend any friend regardless of the issue.
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently?
I'd be more open with lesbians, because they would know that I'm always just joking around and not flirting on them.

1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay? You know, I actually don't think I would, and knowing my Best Friend now, it wouldn't be all that big of a surprise if he told me =P Though I don't think he is
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward? It may make things a little awkward right off the bat, but in the end no
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc? As long as he didn't care if I talked to him about my Heterosexual relationships
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend? Well I don't know, maybe, but it wouldn't be a big deal
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend? Yeah, totally
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality? Of course, I don't care if he was having sex with a monkey I would still defend him, he's my best friend
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently? No...I suppose not, as long as we didn't end up competing for the same girl :P

3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc?
As long as he didn't mention sex cuz if he did then I would have to kick his ass.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend?
Well yea they would see me walkin around with a fagit
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend?
Yea as long as he acted the same and didn't try to check out guys while I'm around
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his
sexuality?
It depends if he came out to everyone then I would because he would be at the same time accepting the bullying I respect that but if he just told me everyone at my school would know anyway but not coming out to them means he is too much of a pussy to stand up to it and in this case I wouldn't join in but I wouldn't do anything either. I don't think he would deserve it.
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently? Prabubly but I'm a guy so that would be expected now a girl would probubly say the exact reverse she wouldn't realy want to hang around with a lesbian and most likely would be fine with a gay guy.

If your going to insult a whole group of people like that please make sure you spell the word correctly! Faggot is the correct spelling and it's not nice to refer to gays or any other group of people by a slur-word. Also, i don't think you'd have to worry about this because If i was your friend and i was gay (which i am)i wouldn't want to be your friend. Now i realize you were just expressing your opinion which is all well and good just don't use slurs like that and if you do SPELL THEM RIGHT!
I'd answer this survey but being gay it dosn't apply to me.

Hi all, u was wondering how straight guys view gay guys.
1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay?
nope. if we're best friends now, we stay best friends.
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward?
yeah it probably would change the way i look at him. but not in a bad way, it would just...change. It wouldn't be awkward.
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc?
Nope. I'll listen to anyone talk about personal stuff.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend?
Yeah probably. But who gives a shit anyway?
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend?
If that's the way it was before he came out, then yes. If not, then it would be different. With a straight friend, you talk about cars and sports and hot chicks. The chicks topic would probably change with a gay friend, but all the other stuff that you can possibly talk about with someone wouldn't.
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality?
Definitely. I've done this before with someone I know who's gay. A straight guy (one of my friends) was making dumb comments about gayness, and i took him aside and told him to STFU.
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently?
Nope, probably not.

I am just so sad at this ignorance...especially numbers 4, 5 and 6. Now before I go on, I understand that this is your viewpoint..but if I was gay...I would definitely NOT want to be your friend. How would you know if he checking out other guys? And how dare you use that derogative remark....you shouldn't care about what you think everyone else thinks of you. You also say that you wouldn't defend him unless he came out to the whole school. It's his choice whether or not he wants to tell the whole school or just a few people. You also state that "I don't think he would deserve it." If he doesn't deserve it...then help him get away from the bullying!
Anyways..I cannot answer this question because I'm bi..

I hope your 200+ posts aren't all full of this ignorance and lack of care for other human beings.
p.s. learn how to spell. "fagit" is not in the dictionary. "faggot" is, and it very offensive to many people, just as "nigger" is offensive to many African/African Americans. I won't even begin with the other grammatical errors in your post...

I'm not gonna answer the questions the same way y'all did, but it will get the point across: being as I am a catholic, homosexuality is viewed as, in a blunt term wrong, but it's not the person that is essentially evil, it's just the act of choosing to be gay and deliberating in homosexual ways. Now on the flipside, whil I would not condone my friend being gay, and would try to help him be absolutely sure it is what he wants, he/she (for lesbians) would not be any less my friend than if he/she hadn't told me; like I said, being catholic, I don't condone homosexuality as the act itself, I'm not going to hate homosexuals, because that's against my beliefs, my nature, and ultimately my human condition, as being one called to love all other people.
That's just my view on homosexuality, you can take it or leave it, but that's how it is, and it is in no way meant to put homosexuals down: I have gay friends, and they're just as much a person as my straight friends.
Btw I'm straight

Well, I am not straight myself (bisexual), but most of my friends that know of my sexuality are generally okay with it. I've set boundaries between those that I'm friends with and those that I'm intimate with and I haven't given anyone any reason to believe I'm going to cross any boundaries.
It's a shame these precautions even need to be taken, but with certain parts of society where anything short of complete heterosexuality is frowned upon, I don't have much of a choice. I have friends all across the country, some of which do not agree with two of the same sex have any sort of intimate relationship.

it's just the act of choosing to be gay and deliberating in homosexual ways.
Being gay isn't a choice. If it was, they most likely wouldn't be gay due to hate and stuff like that.

Ya know, perhaps this isn't the right place to post this but after reading all these replies, I just felt like I had to say something here because I am gay and sometimes I have a real hard time with it and I doubt I am alone.
Almost everyone who replied to the original post were positive, accepting, loving full of compassion and understanding and for those who posted like that, I just want to thank you because it's people like you who give gay kids hope and let them know that just because your different, your still a good person and people honestly do care about you.
Now I realize that everyone here has a right to their opinion but it's posters like Archer600 who contribute to kids taking their own lives because they can't deal with being hated just because they were born different. It's people like him that are the reason why people like me stay hidden, afraid to let a friend know because you never know how they'll react. It's people like him who spread hate in this world rather then love, compassion and understanding and I am just curious how he would feel if the shoe was on the other foot and his best friend reacted to him that way?
Gay is not a choice, it's not something we decide to become, it's the way we are born
(just like he was apparently born straight) but being gay doesn't change who we are as a person and it doesn't make us any less valuable or any less deserving of respect and kindness.

You're welcome.

1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay? Probably not cause I'd probably will figure it out way ahead of time.
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward? If he's really been a good friend, nothing will change at all.
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc? As long as he doesn't go into details.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend?
Like I'd care if they think I'm gay? In the end they're the one who ends up alone.
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend? Nah, I'd love him more cause he won't steal my girl XD.
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality? I take care of my friends...
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently? I'd treat them as if they were a girl (in a good way).... I don't see why any guy would treat a lesbian differently than any other normal girl.

Ya know what really kills me, some straight guys think their all that and a bag of chips and just because someone might be gay, they are so full of them self that they think the gay guy is just going to jump their bones if they befriend them or spend time near them
and that's just crazy.
First off, even if you were the cutest guy in the world, if you weren't gay yourself and I wasn't in love with you, I would no more touch you sexually then I would some nasty female prostitute and you know that's not happening lol. I mean get real and ask yourself this. If your straight, does that mean that no girl is safe around you? Does that mean that you can't even have a female friend or spend time at her house without jumping her bones??????? Well then, what makes you think that gay guys are any different and can't have straight friends, can't run around together without the gay guy jumping your bones???? Give me a break and get over yourself.
Sorry for being rude but damn it, we are no different then you and I get so tired of hearing crap like that making straight sound superior and gays sounding like we're some sex crazed maniacs because it just isn't true.

1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay? Not at all. Many of my friends tell me they're gay
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward? No, not at all. We're still friends.
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc? I'd laugh and say, 'That's cute". haha. I think, why can I talk about my relationships and he can't? That's just not fair.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend?yea, some do. One my very best friends is gay and many people think I'm his boyfriend.
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend? Pretty much. Of course, I would understand that there are some things you just don't say, and I would respect that.
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality? Absolutely. That actually happened today. A group of guys as chanting 'Queer" and a bunch of friend and I cussed them out.
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently? No, lol. I have plenty of them too.

Well, you know what, there are some great people on here... and I have personally become good friends with one of them, and I will tell you right now, Go to hell yourself, and leave VT... We want a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere here where everyone can meet and talk about issues... we don't need some idiot who has a hate agenda hurting peoples feelings or disturbing the peace... we can all be friends here, and if you would have read Billy15's comment that talks about "people like you" are the reason some teens take their lives, because they are hated or not tolerated, and that's really sad when it is coming from a help forum that tons of depressed teens come for answers... so please don't come back to VT if that is what your attitude is going to be... "Gotohellgays".... .... Screw you... get off the site and let VT remain a place of tolerance and friendship...

There will always be hatred in the world but if it's ever going to change, then let it start with us because "Negativity only breeds negativity" and personally lol, I have enough of that right here in our town.

1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay? It wouldn't bother me, quite a lot of my close friends are gay.
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward? Not really no, nothing is ever going to change who they are just because they're gay.
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc? Not in the slightest, relationships are relationships, regardless to sexuality.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend? If they think just because you have gay friends, that you must be gay then they really need to sort their thinking patterns out.
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend? Of course. At the end of the day they're still human and they're still my friends.
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality? Indeed I would. Anyone that bullies someone else for their sexuality needs putting in their place.
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently? Hell no, the same answer, they're still human and they're still my friends.

I wont have to worry bout that though 'cause were both straight.

Why is it a problem? Are you so fucking self centered that you think any fucking gay guy just wants to fuck you, when you're sleeping or whatever?
If your best friend was gay (as an example), what would be different about him. If he didn't want to have sex with you before, he wouldn't now. There would be NO difference, other than that knowledge.
For fucks sake. I have sleepovers with my friends all the time, half of them are in their underwear and I am not in the least bit turned on. I am gay.

@ LongJOhn I can sort of undertand your thinking if one of you turns out to fancy the other, it could spoil the friendship. I think you should be more confident in yourself though, if it turned out that was the way it was, its not like your going to get 'turned' is it? It just seems what you decided is cutting off your nose to spite your face so you guarantee you've lost a friend :(
Anyway, your life, your opinon like you said.
@ Billy, love your posts man.
Nice to see there's a lot of good vibes out there anway, thanks for those.

I couldn't agree more, on both accounts... just because a friend is gay does not mean they want to be with you (it's been said, sorry for redundancy), do you guys get turned on, or want to be with every girl you see? I don't think so, but like has been said, your opinion, ruin a friendship if that is what you think will make you happy... and I completely agree with you there pjay1, Billy has awesome posts, and good thoughts all around, very mature for his age...

Hi all, u was wondering how straight guys view gay guys.
1. would you care if your best friend told you he was gay?
Absolutely not, and I'd help him with it!
2. Would this change the way you look at him or would it make this awkward?
No way!
3. Would you care if he talked about his relationships etc?
Nope, he is my friend after all.
4. Would you feel that others might think your gay just because you have a gay friend?
Well I wouldn't care since there isn't anything wrong with homosexuality, and I don't care what people think about me. They can think what they want :D
5. Would you treat your gay friend the same as you treat a straight friend?
Yes, except that I would try to help him through any challenges he may endure due to his descision to come out.
6. Would you defend this friend if others where bullying him due to his sexuality?
Absolutely! Gay rights are human rights, and no one deserves to be persecuted regardless of race, sex, religion, or sexual orientation!
7. Would you treat a lesbian friend any differently?
Nope.
