Hey guys. It seems that my potent Italian-Greek genes have finally kicked in , and chest hair is emerging....
In all seriousness, my hairiness is about average, but I find I'm developing chest hair more than the average guy my age. With summer coming I want to have a swimsuit ready body. I'm almost 17, and I obviously shave my facial hair, but should I go about shaving my chest hair a different way?
I've postponed shaving my chest because I wasn't sure if it was different than normal shaving. So, to any of you who have chest hair and shave I ask you some questions (I'm sure they're frequently asked, but nevertheless...)
-Is it true that when you shave your chest hair it comes back in thicker and/or darker?
-Does it itch after shaving?
-Is it harder to do than normal facial hair shaving?
Thanks in advance for any tips, advice, or techniques.

Meh the 3 questions are general shaving myths so a short answer to them is no..
On the shaving part... I can get by with an electric shaver & then razor... Its not harder for me and it doesn't itch, but people are different so anything is possible..

I saw a thing on tv once that hair doesn't really come back thicker, it's just that hairs are finer at the end and thicker at the bottom, so when you shave you're shaving the fine part off and the thick part just grows out, if you know what I mean. I don't know about the rest of the questions but I would like to ask you what age did you start shaving?

To answer your questions:
Question 1) No, it is not true that hair comes back thicker or darker after shaving. It is your hormones that cause that and not the action of a rasor blade.
Question 2) Generally speaking, it should not itch if you properly moisterize the area and use shaving cream/gel on the area if you use a regular rasor. Also, lubricating your skin with cream/lotion daily should also avoid any discomfort.
Question 3) It is actually easier to shave one's chest and other body parts as there are not as many twists and curves like a face. I would suggest you invest in a body hair groomer as that goes a long way to making the shaving process easy on one's body especially for large areas like a chest.

Thanks guys. I go forth with confidence now!
@Leprachaun - I started shaving when I was 15, but didn't need to regularly maintain it until I was 16.

the answer to your second question is YES. as it starts to grow back it will itch for sure. especially when in contact with fabric, like shirts.
