I made a cut about...5 days ago, not too deep. It started healing ok, but now it's sore, it's all red around about 1cm of it, it's a little swollen and there's a little pus. It's also kinda warmer than the rest of my skin.
Is it infected? If it is, what do I do? I don't wanna go to hospital so is there something I can clean it with, I've been using Savlon on it for a couple of days but it doesn't seem to be working.

I think the best idea is to get it looked at, make an appointment at the doctor's. It'll be ok, they might ask a few questions but they generally don't pursue it further if you don't want them to. Just keep the wound clean, and keep using antiseptic and you could also put a dressing on it.

I'm still not exactly sure. I've been cleaning it and putting cream on it. so hopefully it'll be ok :)

as soon as you cut you need to wash them with a clean hot flannel then add sudo cream or savlon!
i cut and just before i have a shower meaning no dirt please take care of you cuts! and also make sure you implament used to hurt yourself is kept in a clean place as well!
stay super clean!! with everything you use please

Pus=infection.

Depending on how deep the cut and the type of infection, you might need oral antibiotics, a topical might not be effective. So, eventhiugh you don't want to see a doc, you might need to.

Show your folks.

yeah...it doesn't seem to be getting better :S
JW if you had an infection and didn't do anything about it, what would happen? No ones ever told me

Depending on whats causing the infection it could just make the cut stay as it is and not heal, or it could make you very sick, however those are the extremes of the two scenarios, more than likely it will just begin to get painful and sensitive.

Your best bet is to see a doctor.

Ah ok. That's not too bad. I'm glad it's not like 'you die'. I'll wait and see if it gets better for a few days, I don't want to have to go to the doctors if its gonna be ok.
