I'm not 100% sure as to what is OK to use as a lube, as I know some things you can't use unless you want your dick to sting xD. I know shampoo and soap are two of these things. I was wondering, does hair gel work as a lube?

I would definitely not use a hair care product as a lube. As a rule of thumb, if you can put it on your skin and it is not medicated, then such a product is fair game for being a lube. I would stick with common household products like creams, lotions, or even baby oil as a lube. If can do so, then I would suggest you save up your money and buy actual sexual lube. You can find such lube at any discounter such as K-Mart or Target or a drugstore like Walgreens in the health and beauty section by the feminine hygiene products (pads and tampons).

I probably wouldn't use hair gel as lube, the best things to use for lube are Vasoline, Baby Oil, and well lube (like Astroglide or KY). Some skin creams work well too, like Eucerin

Hair gel normally contains an alcohol, the skin on your penis is sensitive. Alcohol in direct contact with skin = a lot of stinging. It would also dry out any skin that it came into contact with unless you moisturised it right afterwards.

If you need lube, go to your local store and pick up some KY Jelly / ssomething similar
