its the principle involved if my parents did that i'd drag it to the garage cut it off pick the ball up and chuck it through the most expensive thing i could find
drop it on my dads truck er something

Haha, that's classic! The only flaw is that it's based on a timer--but without supervision you won't know if the kid is actually studying or not. You may as well just watch them and make sure they're studying for a good amount of time. Fun concept though, made me smile.

:lol:, funny idea but rather pointless. The kid could sit in their room playing on the computer, reading a comic book, etc... and the parent nor the ball-and-chain would know the difference. Might as well watch the kid or if need be, use this ball-and-chain and watch him.

I was brought up a bit differently: refrigerator was locked, food, drinks and TV were blocked and no phone was in my room. I was given some snacks and drinks, allowed to use the washroom then go back to study. Afterwards, my parents (or parent, whenever they returned from work) checked the work to see if it was done or not (grandmother who stayed also checked it). Once it was approven by the grandmother, then I got a piece of paper with some puzzle on it to solve and that puzzle yielded the password to the computer (password changed routinely).

So, the parents either watch the kids or enforce stricter rules and check the kid's work. Add on the ball-and-chain if it feels good.

Its a good idea but isn't probably the best thing.

Parents should just watch there kids as Inferno said or just say its your own fault if you dont do the work thats required.

21 pounds? I walk around with 5 pound shoes in gym, walking with 21 pounds isnt that hard. Maybe if it was near 50.. Stupid people, it's easier just to watch the kids haha.
