Masterbating is not wrong in ANY way! Chances are, your friend secretly masterbate and feel insecure about it, so they lie and make other people that masterbate feel insecure about it aswell. Don't worry about them! If you like to masterbate, DO IT! I do, I am very proud to admit that I masterbate nearly everyday! (maybe a little TMI?)
Also checkout http://www.jackinworld.com they have similar reasons why you should not feel weird about masterbating.

Think about it; what could possibly be wrong with it?
Wasting sperm? No. It would be released during nocturnal emission anyways.
Not normal? No. Most teen and adult males masturbate.
Not natural? No. Animals in the wild have been known to masturbate, and even baby humans have played with their genitals for pleasure.
Unhealthy? No. It actually is said to reduce the risk of prostate cancer, though it's not necessarily proven.
Relieves sex drive? Yes. It helps you control the urge to have sex, which is good right?
There's nothing wrong with it. It's completely normal, and healthy.

Masturbating is not wrong. Don't let anybody tell you that.
It's a natural function and is actually good for you.

Some religions are against masturbation, for reasons I don't know.
I would suggest asking your friends why they think it's so wrong, and explain how it's not unhealthy, wrong, or un natural/normal.

Just tell them that you respect their view but don't agree and that they should respect your view. Then tell them you don't want to talk about it again.
There's nothing wrong with it at all. Its perfectly normal and natural and most guys would go nuts if they didn't do it.

You should make your own decision.
Questions of moarality, what is "Wrong" are very personal and subject to one's own values and experiences, not those of others. So, although your friends might find some behavior 'Wrong' and you don't doesn't necessarily make them "right" and you "wrong", nor does it mean you should change your values or behaviors (nor should they). There's room in every relationship for tolerance of differeing beliefs.
Masturbation is a universal activity, everybody does it, and the only 'harm' is the needless guilt some are made to feel.

Everyone has their own opinions, I actually believe their is a religious group that believes masturbation is wrong.
But, in most people's opinion it is not wrong, unless you belong to that possibly existent religious group, then don't worry about anything. There's nothing wrong with it, and almost EVERY SINGLE man does it.
There is really no "right" answer to this question, but unless you think it is wrong, then don't worry about it.

Somebody needs to be on the opposition, if everything is just roses and rainbows all the time, it might cause even good arguments to go away, and we don't want that now do we?
Don't masturbate. Most people get addicted, and can't stop. And the only reason it seems like everybody does it, is because right now your surrounded by people who do it, of course they are going to make it seem like "everybody does it."
It's not as normal as you think. If it was true that "everybody does it", It would be rampant right now in public, not still online-underground, in most places.

Sorry Bluearmy, you're entitled to your view, but it really is a normal as everyone else says. Whenever any public surveys are done on this the results are always that around 95% of boys admit to masturbating.
Guys, and girls, on vt are much more open in talking about it than in "real life", and in that sense vt is not typical, but the fact of the matter is that virtually all boys do it.

Yup.
Masturbation frequency has been extensively studied over time ( see: Kinsey, Master's and Johnson, Hite), and the results are consistent: 100% of all guys masturbate, making it a universal activity. Don't confuse something that's 'private' with 'unacceptable' or 'wrong'. People don't poop on the street either, yet pooping is a universal (and normal) activity, too. Just in a toilet.
The internet gives people the opportunity to talk openly about many private things, so you hear about it more here. It also gives a window into what's really going on out there, and in the case of masturbation, aside from the hoopla about 'guilt' and 'morality', it really is as universal as the studies indicate.

Yeah, I don't get how it being in private makes it an underground phenomenon. The reason it's not out in the streets is because exposing yourself on the streets is illegal, otherwise there would be people doing it.
My friend, he definitely masturbates, has said he doesn't because he's Catholic. I know it was just a cover-up, and I told him that it's OK to view it that way, but I disagreed.

It is not wrong in anyway. It is just something a lot of people do. You can just tell them that they are right and never do it again in their presence.
