Alright, I asked Ant about this, so here ya go (if this is the right person.)
That person that was banned joined when he was underage. Since yesterday was his 13th birthday, the ban was lifted, and his posts remained. So I hope that's the person you're talking about. And yes, it is possible to get a ban lifted, or appealed

Bans can be undone, and they can also be timed, like Will said, to automatically lift if the person is underage.

If you ever have a question, don't forget you can always PM a senior staff member and they will give you information if they can.
But yea, the member in question was initially underage. Now hes of age.
When you are banned while being underage, the ban lifts when you are of age.

there are various reasons why bans can and have been lifted. when a person is banned they have the right to argue their case with the administrators by appealing and if it can be proven that the ban was unjust then it can be lifted. as also mentioned, some bans are only temporary and those ones are usually related to age. so bans can be and have been lifted at times and it is definetly possible.

Otherwise banning would work like that.

There's actually a moderator who has been banned from VT and frozen a few times. I wonder who though :P.

There's an ex-Gmod who's been frozen at least once... (I THINK)
That and I know someone who almost overturned a ban, but made the mistake of saying something extremely derogatory to an admin at the time in their appeal... If they hadn't been such a dumbass, they could have successfully appealed their ban and gotten back on this site...
