You should try to get at least 7 hours of sleep because 5 hours isn't that healthy. The less amount of sleep you have, the weaker your immune system will be. And more sleep means you'll be more focused for things.

*hypocrisy alert* lol, just a warning for those of you who know me :P

the recommended amount of time that you should sleep for is around 7 hours, any less, and you start getting some bad side affects, both short and long term. These are things like normal fatigue and tiredness, to chronic fatigue syndrome.

going to bed at midnight probably doesn't help a whole lot. Try going to bed at like 9:30 and not doing a single thing with your hands. Think calm things or meditate. And don't read, play video games, or anything else on your bed. It trains your subconcious into thinking that's what you do on your bed.

Some people require less sleep than others, so the 7 hours shouldn't be a number that everyone needs to adhere to. However, if you do get less sleep and do wake up still tired and such, then that's a sign for more sleep. Try getting to bed early and change the routine you do before bedtime. For example, if you normally change into whatever you wear for bed, then snack then brush teeth, change it to snack, brush teeth then change. The brain likes routines, and setting up this new, although similar routine, makes it easier for the brain to understand that sleeptime now occurs a few hours earlier.
