Over-rated bands and artists

This is in response to the under-rated thread. I figured if we'll discuss the under-rated ones, then why leave out the over-rated ones?

I have a nice long list of over-rated bands, but some are:

- blink 182
- simple plan
- three days grace
- miley cyrus/hanna montana or whatever name she goes by
- slipknot (to an extent, I have mixed views on them)
- nickelback
- jonas brothers
- [confused on this one seeing as how I do favour the band quite a bit] disturbed

I definitely agree on those! But I've liked Slipknot for YEARS and I don't think I could ever give up on them. I can see why you're confused on Disturbed, but I remember liking them ages and ages ago, but now I'm not keen on them. I do think they're overrated though.

I think a few of the metalcore bands are overrated, I love the genre but many of the bands become way too overappreciated. And Bring Me The Horizon...as well as HATING them I think it's a very well known fact that they're very overrated, even though I haven't heard from them much in a while.

I agree with Slipknot, I used to love them but they aren't as good as everyone makes out. Plus, the whole act has kinda gotten old.
You Me At Six, I don't think they have any real talent, just another generated pop punk band.

I know! The singer (Josh something :S) I DESPISE his accent when he sings. I don't understand why so many people like them.


OH, also can't believe I forgot, Fall Out Boy. I don't like their music and in my opinion, girls only like them for Pete Wentz's hair (which isn't that great really)

I was going to say this too. I am a huge fan of the Beatles but i just don't understand what made their music so special. There are many singers and bands that are better.

I just think he's so over rated by his fans, I think its mainly the attitude of some of his fans that annoys me. His voice is annoying too.

Mixed feelings on this. I don't agree with you on Blink 182, Three Days Grace and Slipknot. And I have a huuuuuge crush on Miley, so gonna have to say no there aswell :D . In my opinion, a band will always be over-rated by someone somewhere, music is a taste which is different for everyone. For example, to me Metallica are over-rated, but others will probably think i'm crazy.

Blink 182 is definitley overrated but they aren't a bad band. Beatles are way overrated. They do't suck but they aren't the greatest band to ever exist. Not even close.

Pink/P!NK - I've got two of her albulms, however she's a neverending topic of discussion on the radio (I turn-off artists when the radio yaps on about them 24/7). Has anybody listened to her albulm "I'm Not Dead"? In one song she's preaching to George Bush about charity and homeless children and poverty and in the next she's boasting about how rich and famous she is AND how "your whole house can fit in my swimming pool". I've even heard people compare her to Michael Jackson and The Beatles.
