Wolfmother.
Great band. They're very 90's grunge, but the singer's voice is just... delicious. :)
Put some other underrated artists up.
Then they can receive the respect they deserve (no b. spears, lady gaga, etc. please.)

Thousand Foot Krutch, Zebrahead and (I think) Blink 182 are very under-rated.
Oh, and Fort Minor too.
There's actually another few, but I can't think at the moment.

Love Thousand Foot Krutch. :)
Oh, here's a pretty good acoustic artist. Every time I watch him play, I just smile. I wish I could marry him. lol. He's just talented and cute and this boy is just amazing.
Don't laugh... Jimmy Robbins.
:)
I found him about a year before he was signed.

And Paramore doesn't count, they made it to mainstream pop culture.

Pearl Jam isnt really underated and whoever said Blink-182, they're pretty much maintstream.
Coheed and Cambria, Iron Maiden, and Anthony Green are pretty under-rated bands.

I kind of beg to differ, not to start an arguement though. I mean, they came up during Aerosmith's reign and the clash and bands like that. The 90's was a hard time for a non mainstream band and they were able to pull it off.

Bad Religion, they are a good band but for some reason they are under-rated.

Killers also aren't under rated, have you heard Human? I don't know why the song is popular, Spaceman is 100 times better. First song sounds like a bad German pop song. lol, jk... but not really.
Although I'm not for Pearl Jam, they used to be under rated until fairly recently. A great band that's been cast under the shadow of someone else it Motion City Soundtrack... not to be confused with Metro Station. Although, the only reason Metro Station made it is due to the fact that Miley Cyrus is on of the band member's younger siblings. No one actually considers them of musical merit. Which is unfair, because when you listen to some of their songs, they do have some very good songs. For instance, Kelsey (one of my favorite songs). Anyway, back to Motion City Soundtrack, I've spoken about them to some friends at my school and most of thei responses are, "You mean Metro Station?"
No.
Drop Dead Gorgeous is a great band, btw. I'm about to steal Gurty's shirt. It's the purple one with the gold bold-faced letters. I frikin' love that shirt. lol.
Who else... hmm.
Oh, Just Jack.
He's from the UK, look him up. Great artist. Found him years ago... like most before they achieve even a small break into mainstream. I know, I'm such a loser. Pop culture just had to be my pet peeve. lol. :P
yeah...

Rise Against (pretty well known, but not quite "mainstream", too many people HAVEN'T heard of them), Quietdrive (me love this band ^_^), and Chronic Future (of about fifty people I've asked at my school, only ONE person has heard of them... And they are like Gods among men. ;)).

I've heard of almost all of these bands......a friend of mine likes to find different music to become obsessed with for a few weeks, then find a new one. Otherwise, I haven't really heard any of those.

Since you became a VIPerson
it's like your problems have all worsened;
Your paranoia casts aspersions
On the truths you know
And they'll just put you in the spotlight
And hope you'll do alright
...Or maybe notttt..
That song brings back memories from two years ago when I was in Year 9. lol.
Yeah, Just Jack is okay.

Honestly, I prefer Disco Friends to Starz In Their Eyes.
I know that most of these bands are relatively well-known. It's not a statement of who's well-known or not. It's who is "underrated"; there definitely is a difference. For instance, Cage the Elephant: they have a song about how people dislike their music (In One Ear... great song, btw). Although, I do believe that there is a connection to those how quickly those reach fame and whether they're overrated or not.
It's all about connections.
Those without connections go without publicity.
Keane's another one. The lead singer has a great voice, even if he's not the hottest person in the world. Some comparisons to The Fray, except that Keane is better. ;)

would We The Kings be underrated?

I believe that they're being justly dealt with by the masses. I'm glad that they made it this far, they're pretty good. Although, I'm thinking that this whole discussion is depending on the area one lives in. I'm raving about people who are virtually unknown in CA, where people in the UK most likely know about them. It's an interesting conundrum. You know?
I'm also considering, as my bf has brought up last night, that 3Oh!3 is a tad overrated. They don't play actual instruments, all of the back beats are found and recorded on a macbook. Therefore, they sound in concert exactly how they sound on the record. It's interesting: although their music is great, they have very little actual talent.

Sonic Youth.

How can anyone say that the likes of Paramore or even Iron Maiden are underrated? Lol.
Too much of a fuss is made over Paramore, IMO.
I do find it difficult to find a lot of people who are into the same bands as me, but I don't mind. I kind of prefer it that way. When a certain band becomes overplayed, it puts me off them.
Spin

Brand New.
Blu(hip-hop MC)
Lupe Fiasco, kind of. (another Hip-hop MC)
Panic At The Disco, and wait before anyone says what I know they're gonna say, let me explain. We know they're MAJORLY overrated by fan girls that just like them solely on their looks or to be cool or whatever. BUT, I think a lot of serious music listeners kind of brush them off because their first album was immature. Pretty. Odd. imo was a really solid album and it shows their growth but people probably already made up their mind about them based on their main fanbase and such.

Mandragora Scream, Delain, Amberian Dawn
And about Nightwish, I wouldn't say they're underrated, especially not in symphonic metal terms, but I wouldn't say they're overrated either in general music terms.

Spin actually has a good point of P!ATD. I actually really admire their newer album, even though I really liked A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, mainly because it's incredibly fun to dance to. ;)
And Generic also brings up a really good point. There are genres of music that are vastly more popular than others. Hmmm... this is proving to be an interesting conversation full of revelations.

I don't remember who said it, but I agree that Anberlin is underrated.
I think Amber Pacific and Pilot Speed are good underrated bands too.
