At most ages, especially teen ages, the doctor usually at least feels the testicles, or sometimes does the "turn and cough" check, which is checking for hernias.
Nothing to worry about. They don't care about the taboo of it really, they do it to hundreds of teens.

It might be a little different depending on the country you live, but here in the USA a 'Physical' means they look over your whole body, including your genitals. So, he'll check for a hernia, and will retract (or ask you to retract) your foreskin, the whole process seems like an eternity but really is only about a minute or so. When you get older, they also do a prostate exam by inserting a finger up your anus/rectum to feel the gland.

A lot of guys are unnecessarily embarassed, but it's really nothing more than a routine exam, the doc is looking things over, looking for problems and making sure everything is OK, not really 'looking', if you know what I mean, he's not looking at your *stuff* in a sexual kind if way, it's just another organ for him, another part of your body.

An an FYI, they ask you to turn your head when you cough so it's not in their face, it has nothing to do with the actual hernia test.

i had to get a physical where the doctor touched around my balls. it was a guy sadly. he was real professional tho. it's a bit embarassing but doctors see all kinds of body parts. i wasn't too uncomfortable.

Yes, they do. I was at the doctor yesterday, and my doctor checked down there. Its not that bad. She just had me strip, and she just felt my balls - that was it.

I haven't had the cough and turn test, but I'm pretty sure it's when the doctor lighting cups your testicles and you simply turn your head and cough.

I have had a Physical, to get into highschool i was required to, and to play a sport i was required to (Did them both in only 1 visit), But He just did all the things, then asked me to take off my pants and underwear, and he like held it out and looked at it, then felt my balls. that's all. In the US, its common during physicals. I think theycheck development and hernias, but its really fast. My mortal fear is having a boner during a physical:eek:

If they do, it's all part of a normal physical exam. There's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm sure that your doctor has examed enough teens to be as professional as he would be with any patient, including you. So don't worry about it, and just try and think about something ele during the entire ordeal :)

the doctor said i have to look down "there" so she did and i swear she was looking for like 5 mins then she told me to stand up and cough for the hernia check but i had my dick out for like 10 mins. then the funniest part was that my doctors names was doctor dick. but when i had hte physical she had some one who was learn how to do these things so i had u women starting at my dick and the lady that was learning things was really hot so i tryed so hard not to get a boner and i didnt!!

I don't believe those checks are required in the UK.
In the US I know they are for most, if not all sports. And it's recommended that you get one once every 3-5 years. So you can catch health problems early on, not when you start experiencing pain.

The cough test is to check for peritonitis, which is inflammation of the lining covering the abdominal wall. If it hurts when you cough, you may have peritonitis.

And a hernia is basically where sections of bowel, push through the hole that was covered up when the testicles descended down into the scrotum (As thats the most weak point in the abdominal tissue).

Yes, doctors check down there all the time for many reasons. Both down there and behind there.

even if you do get an erection, they are (or at least they should be!!!) trained professionals that have done the same thing to hundreds if not thousands of teens, and if you do get one they wont say anything about it they'll just completley ignore it because thats the easiest way to avoid embarassment.

If your really worried whilst he/she is touching down there and u feel urself getin hard try and make a really bad joke about it like "people pay good money for this" or "i should come here more often" they'll of heard it all before.
