View Full Version : Nerve damage?

Okay, so a few months ago, I pulled my left arm. It hurt to touch or hold anything with it for almost a month, but the pain subsided. Thing is, I still have a chronic numbness (and sometimes tingling, but it's rare) in the area that I pulled. To avoid a shot-in-the-dark description, I found a picture of a left arm and shaded the area that I have the numbness and occasional tingling in red.
(Remember, the arm isn't mine, so the bruises aren't mine. I just used it to demonstrate the numb area.)

I'd say it is a little big longer on both ends, but that gives you a general idea. I imagine that I should go see a doctor, but that could take some time, so in the meantime, I wanted to post and see if I could get any input.
Thanks x :)

It could be neuromuscular damage or it can be still in the process of healing. Can you move your hands, wrists, fingers, thumb, palm, etc...?

The only problem I have is when I go to lift anything that has any real weight to it with that hand and arm.
It's becoming a problem because of my job.
It doesn't hurt, but I know that something is amiss.

I wouldn't freak out or anything, but I would get to a doctor soon. I am a trained emergancy medical responder, and tingling is something to be concerned about. How severe is the numbess? Can you feel a very small pin prick? Because its already been quite some time, I wouldn't go to the er or anything like that, but I would get on the phone and make a docors appointment sooner rather then later.

I went to the doctor. She believes that it is most likely nerve damage. I have to start wearing a heated brace on my arm as much as I can (but I can't get it until Friday, when I get paid.) If it doesn't get better by the end of the year, she's going to send me for physical therapy to help with nerve regeneration.
