An amateur cameraman has captured the moment a presidential jet and a fighter plane flew low over New York, sparking panic among office workers.
The half-hour flight triggered the evacuation of a number of office buildings in the city - Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he was "furious" he had not been warned.
The White House has apologised for the incident.
The president was not on board the flight, which was organised to take photographs of Air Force One against the New York skyline.

So what? Air Force One flew over to NYC. Not a big deal. If you're so mad that AF1 didn't tell you that they were comming then tough shit. I don't see the big deal. It's like every time someone sees a plane fly over New York City people think it's a hijacked plane. Dumbasses.

Planes go over NYC all the time, the problem was, this plane was flying extremely low (1000ft) and was being trailed by a fighter plane. Anyone who lives in NYC and remembers 9-11 has all the reason in the world to be scared.

Yeah, Matt, don't speak unless you know what you're talking about. The plane was flying ridiculously low and if I was there I would've been scared shitless if there had been no warning. Trust me, if you were there and you saw a plane flying EXTREMELY LOW, followed by a fighter jet, you would not just say, "Oh wow, a plane..." <- Sarcastic.

Exactly.
That was incredibly stupid, and I wouldn't be surprised if Obama fired whoever authorized it.

I'd be nervous. After 9-11 I wouldn't expect a plane flying over NYC at such a low altitude.

You wouldn't understand unless you were in New york City on 9/11. New Yorkers and many other people think that low flying commercial airplanes that are in a city like NYC, will hit a building.
I think that is the first comment I dont like from you Whisper.

I understand perfectly ever since 9/11 Americas afraid of everything you treat Canada you supposed number one ally like complete shit because were allowing terrorists to enter your boarder which is bullshit but w/e
It was a terrorist attack the main goal of it was to cause and instill terror if 8yrs later it can still cause this much panic even when according to the footage I saw you could tell it was Air Force One and you could clearly tell a fighter was tailing it
then al-quida won along time ago
9/11 should never have happened PERIOD
a complete and utter failure by air traffic control and NORAD
Fighters should have scrambled and shot down the planes long before they reached there planned targets
but like Katrina the ball was fumbled to an unfathomable degree
They attacked the united states because they despise what the west as a whole stands for
When you look at shit like the patriot act, or the torturing
In one act of terror they have done immense damage to the United States
If america wants to turn over a new leaf
if it wants to start fresh with Obama
It needs to stop being afraid

Air traffic control couldn't do anything because they had no idea it was hijacked.
And they wouldn't shoot the plane down because there were innocent civilians in it.

They actually would. fighters are required to investigate hijacks and unidentified aircraft and can engage if necessary. THAT WAS NECESSARY.
and Air traffic control is supposed to monitor the flights. if they go off course then it is up to air traffic control to find out why. if they didnt know it was hijacked then yes they did fuck up.

Seriously you could not be more wrong with that statement
and as far as innocent civilians the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few
If the planes would have been shot down will still flying over unpopulated areas the terrorist attacks would have gone down as a failure and the casualties would have been minimal compared to the alternative
If i'm ever on a hijacked jet I fucking demand that it be shot down before I'm turned into a weapon to kill my fellow citizens
If I'm going to die it sure as hell will not be at terrorist hands
Kinda off topic though

I guess you do have a point There. But it's still not nice to laugh at someones fears. And if whoever organized this would have TOLD people this wouldn't have happened. Even the mayor didn't know.

No one told Obama either... It was obviously a screw up on who ever coordinated it. There's no question in that :P

Ok, sorry, I was insensitive. I apologize and I'm sorry if I offended anyone in the thread. I just got out of a fight with my grandmom about this and I was letting my frustration get in the way.
Anyways, I think that the person who sanctioned this should get fired by Obama personally. If you didn't even care to warn the mayor of NYC before flying a plane at only 1000 feet near the Statue of Liberty being followed by a fighter jet, then you've pretty much asked for it. If I were the mayor of New York City, I would be furious over this. It caused panic for many people and it even evacuated some office buildings. Hopefully the upcomming investigation should get things straightened out.

Sorry guys for bumping this.
However....
Umm, people need to just...calm down, i mean
Did anyone see the big blue 747 that has the presidential seal on the side witht he fighter jet escorting it? I mean, I don't think that the most recognizable (or I thought most recognizable) airplane in the entire world is going to get hijacked. Anyways yea. People, I know 9/11 was scary but...gosh. (I was just listening to 911 tapes from when it was flying)
