I stopped cutting around two months ago. I hope I never do it again.
Summer is fast approaching. And I'm sick of always wearing long sleeves.
My scars are quite bad and noticeable and numerous on my left arm.
What can I do? How long would it take to fade?

I am also dreading summer, I will be wearing long sleeves. My school prom is in three weeks as well and I still need to find a solution to wearing a short-sleeved dress!
You could try products like Bio Oil or cocoa butter, which are supposed to help fade scars. I've never tried Bio Oil cos it costs too much, but I've heard people recommending it and if you started using it now, it might help a little before summer. Cocoa butter is also said to help, it's also a good general moisturiser, I've been using it for a while now but I guess it only works if you stop reopening all the scars.
You could also try using makeup - foundation or concealer, but that depends how obvious the scars are and whether you can find one to match your skin tone. I tried that and it didn't work.

hi, Enigma (srry dont know ur name), im currently wearing armwarmers to cover my scars, they're really good, u can get different colours to go with different clothes so dont look too bad:D
Miss Punk (srry dont know ur name either) you could wear one of those light cardigans to ur prom that will go with the dress, that usually looks really nice. Also, i've found that the concealer you use one your face covers scars quite nicely, and it's unnoticable.
Hope i helped.

For the scars to heal up all depends on how bad they are.
Some scars will not fade and some will. Again, it depends on how bad they are. To reduce their appearance try:
-Scar removal cream
-Sudocrem
-Bio oil
-Getting a tan (it covers up spots, so I'm guessing it covers scars too)
-Covering them up with bracelets/other jewelery
-Make up (such as concealer, cover-up and foundation)
That's all I can think of, hope this helps :)

Thanks for all the tips. I think I'll try cocoa butter, tan and concealer.
I've got the school prom in a few months too, I'm dreading that :/

i agree with the armwarmers alot of them are not thick so in the summer if the colours are not too dark it wont be too hot :)

Back when I cut quite frequently I would just make sure that my wrist was always turned down. I didn't go out much so this worked for me but I also wore a bunch of jelly bracelets. When I couldn't I would cover them up as good as possible with foundation. Now though, I wear my scars proud. all of my friends know and dont care so it's not much of a secret. They remind me of those really bad spells and let me know that I still have a long way to go. I'm not ashamed and realize that now they are just a part of me and who I am. Maybe it's bad that my fam hasn't noticed but I am pretty pale so they're not that visible aymore. You could get scar cream and after awhile they do fade a bit
Hope I was of some help
