As some of you know, I withdrew from high school and took an equivalency test so that I could go to college early. (Although there were other things involved, that was one of the bigger ones.)
I go for orientation on the 7th. I wanted to go to a four year university, but there are several benefits of going to the community college that I'll be attending.
First, the tuition difference. Taking classes at the community college costs less than half of the tuition that three (respectable) four year colleges.
Second, the location. I will only have to take one bus, and it is within walking distance of my job.
Three, smaller class sizes.
Plus, a lot of freshman and sophomore students that have gained admission into the closest four year university to me (University of Louisville) enroll at the community college because of the tuition difference. There are a lot of professors that teach at both colleges.
So, in short, I won't be sacrificing a good education and I won't be up to my eyeballs in student loan debt.
I also sign up for classes at my orientation, so I will post back then about the classes I'm taking and when I'll be taking them (I'm aiming to go to school at night.)
I figured that I'd post this to remind myself that I haven't lost focus.
