Oxycodone is a very powerful and potentially addictive opioid analgesic medication synthesized from thebaine. It is similar to codeine, but is more potent and has a higher dependence potential. Also, hydrocodone is a cousin to oxycodone, in that it aids pain relief. I'm not quite sure which is stronger, but I do know that a small pill of either medication can really mess you over - two pills can get you in to "happy land" and probably make you sick, as in you will throw up. If you do throw up, then guess what that means. You just put a poisonous amount in to your body.

If the person taking pure oxycodone or hydrocodone and is not in severe pain constantly, then I'd recommend they stop using it - it's long term effects can be nasty.

My father uses hydrocodone in large doses because for some reason () he's always in pain. We've had tests done on him and everything shows that he's perfectly fine (except high blood pressure). Though after what the medication has done to him, he has an extreme tolerance for these kinds of medications (pain relievers). Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, but he's really a bad role model.

Anyway, I've taken hydrocodone because of surgical procedures. Usually after something as "violent" as surgery, strong pain medication like pure hydrocodone (or oxycodone) is prescribed for at least a 4-7 day period - depending on how traumatic the procedure, it may be longer.

Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin. You can also find it in Percocet along with Acetominophen and other pain killers. I've done it 5 times and can tell you that it is potentially addictive. You can swallow, chew, snort, or inject it. It produces a nice euphoria, kills pain, and makes you feel really warm and comfortable, no matter what you're doing. It makes me terribly sick if I have anything in my stomach, so I usually skip meals to take this stuff. 20mg is about right for someone who has never tried oxycodone. I space every trip out by a week, so as to control any addiction. For one 10mg pill, you will usually pay 5-10 dollars. Since it is a fad drug right now, its far more popular than Heroin and more expensive as well.

Oxycodone is one step away from heroin. Very similar, equally addictive. The high is really good, which is part of why it's so addictive. The drug literally hijacks the reason centers of the brain almost immediately and so you don't realize you're becoming dependent and then addicted.

One of my good friends insisted that he could use it responsibly and knew how to manage it so as to not get addicted. He was pretty quickly addicted to it, switched to snorting heroin because it was "cheaper", then switched to shooting heroin because it was "a better value." That was about a year ago. He's been in rehab twice and relapsed both times.

I've had other friends with serious Vicodin or Oxy addictions who managed to kick, but it was a long and painful process.

I would strongly suggest avoiding even experimenting.
