By defining do you mean editing levels, curves, and such? I did a little of that yes, but not much. I had on levels layer to lighten it, and one curves layer to brighten the eyes more than needed.
Eyes: I duplicated the inner iris, outer iris, and pupil and then individually repainted each of them.
Skin: I started by slightly removing blemishes (A few freckles and the pimple on her chin.) I then came in with a median layer and edited that layer with airbrush tools and opacity settings to soften her skin.

DId you add bloom effect and enhance the eyes' color?
Bloom effect? Explain?
And enhance the eyes? Yes, read above to the reply on the previous quote.

Not so much really, moderate to say.
And yes, they both are very much so. I should retouch one of Eryka soon.

They look too intense. its more relaxing and beautiful with the flat colours, plus it changes the eye colour, and i like their eyes

Relaxing is a debatable thing, because to some the new colors are easier on the eyes, ESPECIALLY if viewed on a black background, it's also more exciting to some.
As for the eye, I know I'm no good at it yet, I'm working on a way of fixing that, I did one the other day and the eyes look much more real, still too bright though.

@Caleb - Very good blemish removal damn son. I'd love to see what you could do with the colors and depth though if you ever try again. :) Very good. Did you fix the issue from last night?

I was going to repaint the pupils, but I was in a lazy mood last night so I just slapped some green overlay on it. Lol.

The eyes definitely look a lot more realistic, though it was kinda pretty having the eyes jump out at you. the eyes are still pretty on the newest one, just not as flashy.

It always depends on what your aiming for.
Soon I'm going to attempt a fantasy retouch, flashy eyes, odd make-up, etc. (: I'll end up sploofing a new background in as well, maybe wings? Idk. xD

But on realistic ones, especially for magazines and such, you wan't to make the eyes as realistic as possible.

I can't wait to see the fantasy retouch! that will be awesome.

yeah anything thats going to be published needs to look realistic. unless its one of those ads that look definitely photo shopped, but still awesome

Lol, you don't want ANYTHING to look photoshopped, believe me, I've seen some that you can tell it was, and quite frankly, it's unappealing. Especially if the artist doesn't know what they're doing (Hence our yearbook fail this year.)

Anyway, wanna help me find some cool make-up examples? Maybe a wing tutorial? pen tool tutorial? All would be helpful. (: I'm looking for make-up tutorials now, studying different techniques.

All i did was touch up blemishes, recolored the eyes a little, whitened the teeth, put a violet and orange gmap with soft light and about 30% opacity.

Yeah it's the hair that really messed it up. I'll get up a couple different versions and post em.

Not really, the skin looks synthetic also, her hair is just worse. Maybe you shouldn't have removed the adjustments? Or maybe you over did the softening/forgot to remove parts? o.O It has potential though.

I'm working on the fantasy piece, I'm just trying to get it to go how I want, I don't think I'll get it to work :/

EDIT:

I started on the fantasy piece, it's not yet finished but take a look?
I was trying to make my own form of this make up: http://makeupconnection.com/images/1-getTheLook/purpleFantasy/face_purpleFantasy01_LRG.jpg

All in all it's a very good job; Your gmap may have been to high, try lowering the opacity next time.

I haven't done anymore work on it, doing a little studying before I move on.

EDIT:

I did a little work, I was going for an elven/fairy thing but changed my concept half way through, still needs a lot of work though.
