Stages are simply a generalization and a small-time idea of the order in which you will develop different things. They generally happen at about that time - stage three, though but they can occur at any time. :)

A growth spurt is an increase in height.OK, thanks for the clarification. And to answer your question, I am roughly at stage 3.4 according to a survery I did, and I am increasing faster than ever, I was 5.6" 10 months ago and I am now 6.3".
