I'm going on a big family holiday, and going to lots of waterparks and will be expected to sort of be in bikinis etc the whole time , my mum will probably suspect something if i make a fuss of wearing a bikini as i havent really cared before. and i have scars half way down my leg and on my tummy, Also, if i tan will scars show up more or less or the same as before.
thankyou

Heyy

I have a similar problem to you, I'm dreading going on holiday to sunny places ^^'

For covering your stomach, why not wear a tankini/tshirt over your bikini? Say that you feel uncomfortable with your body, or something (all teenagers do at some point :P). And wear a sarong to cover your legs? Or boy shorts or something (not always an option, but some girls do wear boys swimming shorts..).

Would it be an option at all to discuss this problem with your mum? I know it wouldn't be easy, but maybe if you told her that might ease the pressure of trying to hide your marks without giving her a valid reason.

In the meantime, you could use products like Bio-oil to try and reduce the appearance of the scars a bit before the holiday.

Hope this has helped... and hope you have a nice holiday =]

My best suggestion to you is to tell your mom what's going on, and tell her that's why you don't want to wear a bathing suit, but I'm assuming you aren't comfortable doing that, so I'll move onto another suggestion.

The poster above me gave some good advice. Great job. :) Sorry, didn't catch your name.

You could wear some board shorts, which are similar to guys swimming trunks, but made for girls. They come down to just above your knee, and I have found them many places. If your mom asks why you want those instead of a bikini bottom....hmm, you could just tell her that you aren't feeling comfortable with your body right now. (Which isn't a lie really...you aren't feeling comfortable with your body, but in a different way....) And for your stomach, they do make tankini tops, which would work, or you could wear a tank top/tee shirt, saying that you again, don't feel comfortable, or you don't want to get a sunburn, or something.

As for the tanning, I'm not positive. I'm very pale, so any scars that I have don't make a difference, they just have a pinkish appearance. But, my mom tans very well, and the few scars that she does have do become a bit more noticeable when she tans. Like the above poster said, try using something from the drug store that fades scars. I'm not sure how long you have until your vacation, but hopefully it will be enough to fade them a bit.

Good luck. I hope you come around to telling your mom. Have a nice vacation. :)

I Agree with the past 2 posters, tellin your mum would be the best option but iknow its not easy..

soo.. what about wearing a bakini / tankini with a top over it and just say you dont want to burn etc..
and boardshorts would work:)
If bio-oil doesnt work try e45 cream aswell.. thats also good.

but tanning does make your scars appear more as if your skins light your scars will be a pale pink. so if your skin goes brown they will stand out more. but you dont need to wory if your wearing t-shirts n boardshorts anyway:D

av a good holiday bbe xx
