AutumnDae

I went to get some music playing....and I opened iTunes. And none of my music is in my library. There are absolutely no songs. What could have possibly happened?!

Have a look in your music folder, there should be a folder inside that named itunes, and your music should be in there!

AutumnDae

When I opened that folder up, there's nothing inside of it.

I swear, if this is Forrest's fault, he is being......erm, hit very hard.

Hmm, it check your recycle bin. If there's nothing there then I think you should start having some words with that brother of yours!

There's nothing in my recycling bin! Just.....shoot me.

And I've already had a screaming match with him in which I called him some things that I won't repeat here. He's in his room sulking and staying away from me because I threatened to punch him.

Ohh!

I can't remember what it's called but do you have that thing where you can like go back in time (assuming you're on a Mac)?

AutumnDae

I have no idea if I have that, if I knew the name of it I could tell you. And yes, I am on a Mac.

Did you by chance move the music files? iTunes would make you re-add the files when you move 'em. Hate it when that happens.

Also, check purchase history, anything you bought should be there

They haven't been moved.

And I'd love to check my purchase history. Except under the store, I have.....: iTunes store and shopping cart. No Purchased category.

Hm, my purchase is fucked up too.. it only has one song in it.

Do you have the files backed on your computer / on your ipod? you could re-copy them into the library

AutumnDae
April 17th, 2009, 07:01 PM
I don't think I have them backed on my computer.....but they are all on my iPod. Well, most of them. The ones that aren't on my iPod are unimportant.

ShatteredWings

And how might I do that? My iPod is currently plugged in. The little "Are you sure you want to sync the iPod? All music will be erased and replaced with the current iTunes library" came up, so I hit don't sync. It's charging at the moment.

Why not just go to your music folder and add the stuff that was on your iPod before it got hosed?

You can, but you have to download this software (its safe, ive had it for ages) called EphPod - download it and then u can copy all ur music straight from ur ipod, it even organises it into folders for you :)

Hope this helps :)

Sorry, I replied too quickly. I was in a rush to get something else done.

Have you tried deleting the files and then re-adding them to your computer then adding them to your iPod? That might work. This has happened to me before and I had to rip quite a good deal of my music back on my computer.

OH! Duh

When you plug it in, on the main page, check the "manualy manage songs" button

maybe then it'll let you have the songs on your iPod coppy-able

What files might I be deleting? The music files? They're gone. I can't find them on my computer.....

And I was thinking about that, it might work. I will try it a bit later when Forrest is done using that computer.

Use Time Capsule, so when this happens you can have a Backup.

iTunes doesn't allow you to copy songs from your iPod to iTunes (which is crap) but there is third party software that you can get to do this.

Use iRip. Or iPod rip. Worked for me when I copied some songs off a school comp but wanted a back up
