Ok so on Tuesday... I finally told someone that I am gay. I will have to start this from the beginning its kinda long but its a good story so bear with me...

So a while back I started talking to this girl named Denny in my History class and not long after I met her I found out she is somewhere between bi and lesbian. She seemed like a really cool girl so I gave her my cell # and began to text her. Then one night she called me and we started talking on the phone (her prepaid phone was out of mins) and I came up with this brilliant plan to go to the movies with her and we quickly became great friends. one night I was on msn with her and I was also talking to Thomas, I decided that I was going to tell her that I am gay but I was too much of a wimp and eventually she logged off and it was me and Thomas... eventually Thomas was able to convince me to send her an offline message with my confession. She didn't end up reading it that night and so the next day I was really anxious the whole day. After school Denny invited me over to her house and I decided to go...hoping she wouldn't read it till I left because I didn't want to deal with it in person for whatever reason. So in short after a long struggle she ran into the bathroom with her laptop and read it... while she was reading it I hid under a pile of blankets and nearly hyperventilated. Then she walked out of the bathroom and was like "Lance are you really gay!!!" *I didn't respond* "it’s nothing to be ashamed of" *I still had nothing* "come on tell me". Then I got this brilliant plan to try and pass it off as a practical joke...she wasn't amused and didn't believe me. I eventually got the nerve to finally confess and she pounced on me and gave me a giant hug knocking me over while squealing "omg omg omg" she was ecstatic about it :) and we had a lot of fun talking that night. I am really glad it went so well :D

It is good that your friend was supportive of your sexuality, and hopefully most people are going to be accepting of the way you are. Always remember the rush you had gotten from this friend as you will need that reserve to deal with the tough moments when folks don't accept you for who you are. The reality is that the overwhelming majority of people are going to be accepting and/or tolerant of your sexuality. The most important thing to do is to always emphasize that you are the same person as you always were and that your sexuality is simply a part of you that has always been around but just not at the forefront. That will go a long way to dealing with the most difficult folks out there. However, my hope is that you will have experiences such as what you had described above rather than bad ones.
