Bursts of laughter
Coming from the
Child left alone
In the corner
Dart out at you
Like heat-seeking missiles
At an erupting volcano.
The sense is gone,
But logic is still there.
He laughs because he can,
Though he has nothing to laugh about.
But why is he celebrating loneliness,
When it is acceptance that we crave?
It is not knowledge we seek,
It is power (Isn't it?).
Attention is power,
Or so they proclaim.
So maybe that boy
Was laughing for attention? Or power?
Or maybe he is like that newborn piglet,
Curious yet clueless
As to how the world actually works;
He assumes sounds of joy
May actually bring joy.
Too bad the piglet
Will eventually grow up.
