View Full Version : How fast is your system? Post your SuperPI score!
Aηdy
April 16th, 2009, 04:06 PM
CPU benchmarking time! I got this idea off another forum :)
The benchmark is SuperPI. Windows users: download here (http://rapidshare.com/files/222587280/super_pi_mod-1.5.zip) and Linux users download here (http://www.di.uminho.pt/%7Eapa/directorias/public/download/performance/super_pi.tar.gz)
It's a tiny program to download. You need to calculate at 1M digits and share your score (and your overclocking settings if applicable).

All though I dont have a picture to prove it, my Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHZ got 1 Million in 19.891. Which I find weird because I beat desire's quad core.

For some reason, his clock speed is lower than normal. It might be a power saving thing, or could be not set up right in BIOS.

They are the default settings, I have not overclocked my quad core which explains why your dual core is faster.

Stock speed for yours is 2.4GHz. According to that screenshot you are running at 1.6GHz.

My apologies, I actually have the speed stepping enabled so it's set at 1.6MHz because I wasn't doing anything intensive.

55c max usually, those temps were right after the test so was still a little warm.
Usually sticks around 45c with general use.

That's not a great speed for a quad core! :S
Keep in mind SuperPI is only single core so it's only as fast as a single core Conroe at 2.4GHz. Yours is 3.85GHz and mine is 3.2GHz.
2. vector = 15.391 seconds (Q6600 @ 2.06GHz)
His FSB is 346MHz. With the Q6600's max multiplier at 9 the CPU is running at 3.11GHz. The reason his score is better than my e5200 at 3.2GHz is because my CPU has 2MB L2 and his has 2x 4MB.

You overclock in the BIOS. And providing that you do it in small steps and you have good enough cooling you'll be ok.

You can't overclock laptops. They do not have good enough cooling, and it's very rare that the BIOS will support it.
