Broken Promise

You promised me that everything
Would be alright…
You told me that the future was
Like any other night.

You told me that tomorrow would
Be just like today,
You told me what you’d do
And you told me where we’d stay.

You told me of the joy it’d bring
You told me of the songs we’d sing
You told me of the wind we’d feel
Passing us by.

But now I’m by the riverbed
Crying tears; I didn’t know I had
It in me to go this far.
I didn’t know I’d go this far…

But you left me all alone
Out on my own
With no place to go,
I have no home.

You kicked me out
Without a word,
You left me hurt
You left me scarred.

You promised me that everything
Would be alright…
You told me that the future was

You backstabbed and gagged me,
Left me speechless, left me bleeding…

I’m thinking it has come and gone;
But I’ll sit by the riverbed
Until the right’s been wronged (or until I’m dead and gone…)

I really like your poem...it has a lot of feeling behind it! I know your probably writing from experience...and most of my poems are written from experience as well...I am much better at writing things from personal experience...but I like to make things up every now and again too...I really liked how you wrote this though. Good job!
