I was wondering if the NHS provide therapists for you in the uk?
I think i need help but i dont think my mum could afford to pay for it. :( Even if she could she wouldnt want to. She would probably think im just being stupid or its just a phase. Some dirty little secret that no one out of the family should know about. To outsiders we are a completely normal, happy family.... we're really not.
If the NHS do provide them for you then does your parents have to know about it or can the appointment to completely confidential if you are 16?
Thanks

Take Care

heyy :)
I think it's confidential...& i also think you can get a free counsellor. I'm not deadly certain though, but i'm sure i heard this was true somewhere. If you find out any different (or if what i said is right) please could you post it, I'm curious & know exactly how you feel with little money & normal family thing. jess xxx

Counseling is available for free off the NHS.

Yes, you probably need to see your GP first and they will refer you on. They will want your parents to know but the therapist will give you the opportunity to see them privately and in complete confidence

Heyaa, I'm not actually sure about the nhs but thy might. But if you want it confidential. You should go to your school councler who will help you and may refer you to a therapist wich is completely confidential and ur parents dnt hav 2 know about it x

Have you got to see your GP yet?

They typically are the first port of call within the NHS.

Well i was going to book and appointment but then i was looking through my uni form and it asks if i've been to my gp (and if i have then why) in the past two years so i dont really want to put yes - suicidal, depressed and self harm.
On top of that its a nursing course i want to get into so if they see that then i think my chances of getting that course will be slim!
If im still feeling this way if i get into uni then i might go to the gp.
I just dont think its a good idea now
