Without cutting or any type of self infliction what so ever.

Can anyone explain why I feel so empty?

YAY LAURA! This is great news, gratz! FWIW, I am proud of you! You have turned a corner, you are developing a new sense of yourself as something other than a cutter! it will get easier with time, just stay with it, girl! :)

The emptiness you describe I think is pretty normal, it's caused by this big part of you (the cutting) no longer being there, and nothing yet having taken it's place. You need to continue to develop those coping skills which will fit in, and that are available to you when you get *that* urge.

The emptiness also might represent what the cutting was hiding all along, and without the cutting there, you can experience that feeling. However, by making it's presence felt, it gives you the opportunity to address it directly and make it go away forever.

*Gives Laura a specially made brownie with a big sparkly thing on top to celebrate*

Actually, this is interesting.

I don't feel like cutting. I didn't feel like cutting the last time a situation, where I'd normally cut, occured...

I just don't feel as proud as I thought I would...

OK, Laura, So I'll feel proud for both of us! :) *Gives Laura another magical brownie*

Part of growing up is that you always don't feel pride in your accomplishments, because they lose their novelty. This means that it's just a part of you, that 'not cutting' has become the norm. And that's what you've been striving for!

Gratz, hun. I think this is great news, you're becoming that person you want to be.

Laura! Congrats hun! ^_^
I'm so proud of you.

The emptiness is there because you've gone for so long without cutting, but it will fade away in time, eventually.

Like Sam has just said, not cutting is becoming a good habit.

Well done!

As long as you keep on going with this (which is great :)) then the emptiness will go I'm sure of it :)
