All Martial Arts are fun to practice. Depending on your personality or goals, different "styles" appeal more to different people. But my philosophy is to learn everything and decide what helps and what doesn't.

shotokan .. but our association is a combination of kung fu and karate. so it's unique in its style

we combine shotokan karate with wushu kung fu

Yonkyu in Judo.

That's not Karate, but whatever.

I got Gokyu in American Kempo Karate while I was young too, before the school sold its soul to Villari's org.

Well...I used to do Tae Kwon Do.

I was told that I had the "strength" and I was "tough" enough for it. But my coordination SUCKS and all these certain patterns and rituals confused me.

I also kicked the instructor real hard in the shin on my first time...not good. But lawl :P

Due to university studying (soon 3rd year), I stopped doing karate (goju-ryu), self-defence (more or less mixed, some unarmed defense against weapons) and judo. So fun to use some basic self-defense and some judo in goju-ryu sparring (as long as it's not a throw over shoulder or waist). I do some weights now and then.

I've had plenty of experiences hitting the sensei, but oh well. It's great when you can take him down, not for points (I don't spar for points, just for amount of time) but for bragging rights, then of course, have him try to take you down or just ruin you, either one.

Well my syle is made up 50% of gojuryu. I like sparring for points but i'd rather just sparr and hit people

I don't care for sparring for points. You use martial arts ideally for defense so it's better to learn to spar for a set amount of time, rather than a simple "1 point, 2 point, I win!!!!" sort of deal. Perhaps for competitions that's useful but to me, it's not.

What is your style made up of though? If it's 50% gojy-ryu, what is the other 50%?

I don't take any martial arts, but I'm quite into fencing myself. It scares the neighbours.

Meh meh I used to do Shukokai ( On my uncles example who has a 5th dan.. )

BUT... My knees went SHIT and I couldn't do it for 4 years.. And now I'm looking around what to do again since theres no Shukokai in this town..

My Sensei said I was very talented and like my uncle ( which is a big comparison for me... ) in that I am stubborn, if I get something wrong I keep going till I get it right..

It was a lot of fun and I still practice the basics every now and then.

Fencing is a martial art.

A highly stylised and codified one almost useless for any kind of everyday application, but one nonetheless.

A black belt is just a white belt who never quit.

I love martial arts, I find them fun and a challenge, I have only really come across Wado-Ryu Karate but I did not study in depth just a few katas.

My first preference martial art will and always will be Wushu Kung Fu.

Other martial arts styles I have studied are Ju-jitsu , Wing Chun.

At the moment I am looking to learn Krav Maga, I just have to find somewhere that teaches it near me.
