I recomend some kind of cream to rub on, I can't remember one off the top of my head but go to a pharmacy and they can recomend one.

^^ Ice does reduce swelling but it takes a while, ice is mainly used to sooth the area that has become swolen.

How can raw meat help?

I'll assume the swelling is the result of physical contact.

Swelling responds best to ice packs. If the swelling persists, or looks particularly bad, a doc can prescribe some meds to reduce the inflammation.
