OK, I think when you give someone rep it should be forced to give an a reason why you are receiving the rep and also have it where you know who gave it to you.
I think it's stupid that it doesn't because someone de reped me and said boo.. that does not tell me anything at all to understand why I was de-reped...
I think it would be good to know who gave you the rep, like if someone gives you good rep you can thank them or if you receive bad rep, you can ask why they thought what they did. But this is just my views on it.

I agree. Also I think you should have to have a rep of 2 and above and a post count of 100 before repping.

Meh...Generally, I don't think it should be forced, however I don't think negative rep should be given without a valid reason. I think why people don't put their name with negative rep is because often times they will seek revenge rep (I know it's happened to me). I'm not fully for this idea, but I absolutely hate it when people give negative rep without a reason.

What he said, many members have done that and it has been...quite taken care of. I think the rep system in place now is fine.

The rep system just creates more drama.
I have no patience for either the cowards who do not sign their -reps or those that give no reason.
People that don't sign their -reps either assume that I'm not self-confident enough to take the criticism like a man instead of counterrepping like a kid, or they themselves are obsessed with 0 and 1s on a forum.
I always sign my -reps because I'm secure enough with who I am to not give a flying heck about positive repping. If I get counterrepped it just shows more about the person's maturity than mine. In a way it just validates my criticism.
If your community is not mature enough to not engage in such bullcrap as counterrepping because of a -rep (because little green boxes are so important) then I think there's really no reason a rep system should exist.
My opinion : name or get out.

OK, I think when you give someone rep it should be forced to give an a reason why you are receiving the rep and also have it where you know who gave it to you.
I thought it was required to leave a reason when someone gives you negative rep. Also it USED to be set up to where you could tell who gave rep to you, but they stopped that. I forgot why.
I think it's stupid that it doesn't because someone de reped me and said boo.. that does not tell me anything at all to understand why I was de-reped...
Instead of complaining on the forums, you can complain to an admin and they can change it. They could even get an infraction for it. I think I did that to Andy once.
I think it would be good to know who gave you the rep, like if someone gives you good rep you can thank them or if you receive bad rep, you can ask why they thought what they did. But this is just my views on it.
Well, you could send them a private message or something. But a system to let you give thanks to someone for repping you? I'm sorry but I just think that's dumb.

i hardly ever get rep of anyone and it make me look like a bad person
i think we need to launch a massive rep awareness thing so we can tell everyone how to send rep and encourage them to send it

Zach, they stopped giving out the names of who was repping who because people started looking at that and saying, "Oh, 'Juan' gave me positive rep, now I should give him some rep in return" or, even worse, "Oh, 'Carlos' gave me negative rep, now I'm going to get revenge on him and give him negative rep!" Revenge rep was rampant in ROTW if I remember correctly... People were giving negative rep just because they disagreed with other people's opinions... Then the person receiving the negative rep, seeing who gave them the negative rep, would in turn give the person who gave them the negative rep, negative rep... And yeah, it was an endless cycle, yatta yatta yatta... 0.o

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the current rep system. I can understand why people would like to remain anonymous, and there's nothing wrong with that. Some people aren't that comfortable revealing their names if they either agree or disagree with a post. As said before, people don't usually sign negative rep because they know they'll get it back in return. Signing your name on negative rep just creates drama.
If someone gives you negative rep for none or stupid reasons then contact an admin and they'll sort it out.

Almost every active member knows about rep, and they are the ones that will be seeing your posts.
If they think you made a good post, they'll add to your rep.
Feel free to add something like "If you like my posts, rep me!" in your signature to remind people, although some members think that's something like begging; it can turn out to be a pro and con to have that in your sig.

Optimas people don't just give out rep if you're a good person or made a good post, most people only give rep (positive) if it an extraordinary post or really hit the nail on the head. Otherwise some people would have lots and lots of rep just for talking to other people about animals.

yet again will you amaze us with your post
i can see your point
now all we need to do is get them to rep good posts for the right reasons

Example :
I got -rep'd for pointing out a spelling mistake.
That's just petty.
Rep systems make every forum seem like high school.
