I dont know if heretitary is the right word. but what i am asking is if Schizophrinya is genetic. I am asking because in the later part of my grandfathers life he lived in a mental instetution. I think he had Schizophrinya and i am afraid that when i get older i may devlop it. :?:

There is some evidence that schizophrenia has a genetic basis. If for example, you were a twin, and your other twin developed schizophrenia, you'd be around 50% likely to develop schizophrenia.

There is some evidence that schizophrenia is genetically based, but at the moment the scientific community tends to lean towards the view that schizophrenia is caused by a combination of genetic, environmental (life situations) and psychological causes. Schizophrenia is still not well understood, and no one knows exactly what causes it.

However there is much hope, schizophrenia can be treated effectivly through a variety of methods.
