These days doesnt it seem like everyone has ADD. Just because a kid cant sit in a chair for 8 hours and listen to a boring teacher doesnt mean he/she has ADD. I think theyre really taking this too far. My uncles acted the same way as my cousin when they were little but werent diagnosed with ADD and they turned out fine but now my cousin was diagnosed with ADD and is forced to take these pills and believe something is wrong with him when hes just acting like a normal kid his age would,6.

I think it's just America, I mean 60% of the people ar obese, 60% of the people are chronically ill, 70% of the people dont have good health, more and more people are dying from aids, then 60% of the people I know have add.

Well, these days, Americans especially, are exposed to a lot more chemicals than they used to be. Everyone is on a drug or two, there are lots of pollutants, children get dozens of vaccines, and people take antibiotics for everything.
I think that may be a reason why we have a lot more mental disorders nowadays than years earlier. A Fox news report from yesterday showed that autism used to be rare- 1 case of autism in 10,000. Today, it is 1 in 130 or so. Fox didn't have many facts, but a lot of circumstancial evidence that mercury preservatives in vaccines could have caused it.
There's lots of bombardment of chemicals and the brain today- I'm not suprised we all are mentally messed up.

The MMR vaccine link with autism was proved very weak, there was hardly any correlation at all.
Fox is a biased news network, they ALWAYS use circumstancial evidence.

Well, I'm not about to go inject myself with mercury- It is the second most toxic substance naturally occuring on earth (after Uranium)
I'm sure health organizations just don't want to fess-up to a screw up.
Why else would you say that there are so many more cases of autism now than in the 60s? You cant fully use the "we have better ways of diagnosing it now" defense to explain such a HUGE change.

Was it not you who said taking Arsenic was ok in small doses? Or taking cyanide?
Actually you can say we have become better at diagnosis, since the early 90's autism has been put on a spectrum, with aspergers as a subtype, full blown autism etc.

Yes, but 1 in 10,000 is very rare. Autism, at 1 in 130 or so, is not rare at all. When it goes from .01% to nearly 1%, something is to blame.
And arsenic in homeopathic doses, or in the naturally occuring dosage in apricots or apple seeds, is perfectly fine. I've never heard of anyone having more than a stomach ache from eating a few apples. If you say that my opinion on the matter is dangerous, it is similar to calling apples dangerous food.

but this topic is about ADD... I think that doctors do diagnose it too quickly, and too easily. I was diagnosed with it by a few doctors/psychologists, and after that time, was told by another psychologist that it was insane to think that I have it. Fun stuff in the medical world...

Several are calling it ADD/ADHD when it could also be Aspergers and other disorders, they're going too far. Thank god there is a lot more testing available now compared to 20 years ago.

Seriously, its not another government ran conspiracy where they are trying to turn their hard working citizens autistic so it makes it harder for them to work....It's all to do with diagnosis criteria, which gets more or less strict as times goes on. When the diagnosis criteria changes, so do the kinds of people with the disorder. IT's only a label. It means nothing, everyone with a mental illness is not that 'label' they are individual, yet share the same traits as what is listed in a big book called the DSM.
DId you not realise, that the scientists that made that claim even withdrew it? Much like the scientist who said Exctasy (MDMA) causes brain damage and later withdrew his findings, as there was a weak link.
As i said earlier Autism has been put on a spectrum. Someone with Aspergers (or mild autism - im sure peppertech can help here) might have been considered eccentric or abit odd by other people maybe 10 or 20 years ago, but now they could quite possibly be diagnosed.
Autism is on a spectrum, the mildest form being aspergers and the most damaging being PDD (pervasive developmental disorder..) It was only recently that psychology agreed it was on a spectrum.
People with bipolar disorder may be mistaken for someone with ADHD, someone with Aspergers might be mistaken for someone who is schizotypal. Sometimse it takes years for a diagnosis.
Dfsg you can be scared of everything your whole life, and never take risks with anything, then again...how boring would that make your life?
The news is popping out with scare stories everyday! Surely by now you must have learnt to take a subjective point of view. It was said bread caused cancer, spices cause cancer, being born in winter gives you a higher chance of mental illness.
With the advances in technoledgy, it has 'almost' been proven that mentall illness is biologically based, this was not so a few decades ago.
I've had the MMR jab and im far from autistic. Saying that 1 in 130 people is autistic.
"RESULTS:
The early studies yielded prevalence rates of under 0.5 in 1000 children, whereas the later ones showed a mean rate of about 1 in 1000. There was a marked difference in prevalence rates between those studies that included some children born before 1970 (low rates) and those that included only children born in 1970 and after (high rates). This is probably due to the lower rates obtained by use of criteria strictly based on Kanner's description of his syndrome. The US studies reported atypically low rates. There was a highly significant estimated increase with calendar year in the non-US studies (3.8% per year)."

So, you say I shouldn't worry about Mercury? If I worry about my health, I'm just paranoid? I thought normal people strove to have decent health.
I wouldn't want to mess around with the second most toxic metal in the world, and just accept it because doctors want to inject you with it.
Plus, NBC is also putting out a report on Thimerosol use in vaccines, so I'm sure FOX and NBC aren't just spreading some conspiracy. It's a true fact. I'm glad they are finally bringing this fact to the general public. It's something alternative doctors have been fighting for years.

you know whats funny? i could eat spoonfulls of mercury and be perfectly fine. its when vapors of mercury are injected or consumed its dangerous. pure liquid mercury is perfecly harmless. this story of a woman that tried to kill her husband, put mercury in his food. he found out because he felt the liquid metal slide down his throat. he then went to a doctor who x rayed him and they found the pool of mercury. he was told he would be fine and to let the mercury pass, it was harmless since it did not turn into vapors. his wife on the other hand, being dumb in her murder attempt was sent to jail i think...

The docs don't relly diagnoss everyone with ADD or ADHD what they usually do is if you say you can't pay attention sit still etc they usually give the medicine to you to see how you REACT to it, if you do have it it will help and you will be calmer and want to work on everything (which is what happened to me) but if you don't have it you will get very hyper just like if you had ADHD.
