he's probably just trying to scare you. Someone said clear your cache as well. Go into tools and click delete files (if using IE)

well ive been doing this for a LONG time and my moms a computer freak and this si how i geta round her :P:
u gonna go to "tools" hit "internet options" then delete"history" then u hit" delete files" and then hit"delete cookiyes" and ur safe:P
alot of people say that u shoudent delete cookiys but it will amke your comp go a bit faster and when ur on porn sites it sumtimes puts cookiyes into it and u can see the cookiys(i cant reamber how to get there sry)
and hitting delete files wont do any ahrm so dont think ur delete all ur files form the internet it just deletes any unsaved ones

there is a thing called cookies which stores all internet files u go to your control panel then to internet options then settings ( under cookies ) then view objects then u have to delete manually from there

I never have this problem. Just blow away the history. I keep my cookies so I don't have to re-login every time I go to a website like VT, but my parents are computer-illiterate :D. If they were actually GOING to check I would delete cookies and files as well, which is right in the tools like they said.

Please don't bump old threads. And just to clarify, index.dat does exsist in your cookies and can be opened with notepad. But will be deleted if you clear your cookies anyway.
