Hi I am 17 years old and havent gone through puberty. I have gone to the doctor and he said it was like low testosterone levels, and now i am going to a specialist. I just feel so down about the situation...like i am feeling really bad. For like 3/4 years now i have just constantly feel like a freak. I really want to get this all sorted out but i am meant to be goin 2 college next year and simply cant go like this. I am scared and was just wonderin if anyone knew anything about this etc. I have never told anyone about this...only my parents so this is weird. Thanks

Hi Memyself, i know this WILL be hard for you but it is going to be hard to get through this, hte specilit will most likely perscirbe a form of Testostorone. Googling the name of hte med and the 'diagnosis' given will help you understand better. i am not sure on how long it will take to catch up but give it a good 9 months to be nearing the stage people are at now in youre class.

Delayed puberty happens, the most importanrt thing is that you;re now going to specialists (endocrinologist: Hormone specialist) who will give you supplements so you'll catch up.

The worst part is over, a year is a long time, the hormone treatments you're probably about to get will move things along.

That must be really tough, but it happens, its not like really unusual. At least now you're going to get some treatment which will work, so things will look up soon

Following on from what sam has said, i think it is happening more in this century than ever, these days we have caffine which can either A) speed growth up, B) Slow it to a halt. so i mean people on cola will either be short or tall. aswell as a generation of teenage smokers, stunting growth in some cases.

I am younger than you but I know how you feel. I'm 14, my doctor was watching my growth at physicals and pretty much said I rapidly stopped and gone under the 50% range for my age group size wise. I think I was around 5 3' at that point in time. He sent me to an endocrinologist (the specialist your talking about) because he was unsure if it was puberty related and though I had low testosterone.

The Endocrinologist did some blood tests and x rays and basically told me I had low testosterone, but not low enough that I could get shots and because I was still going through puberty it could change.

What came next shocked me more, he told me I probably would go past 5 feet 4 inches, my current height now, 5 6' if I'm lucky.

As 14 I totally consider myself a late bloomer, pubic hair, minimal armpit hair, 4' penis, yeah there's room to grow, just as there is for you, but it's scary thinking about your future. I truly wish you the best of luck, just hope that the shots help, they could really do a lot for you!

Cheer up, they will give you some testosterone shots over a period of time and you will be back to normal and developing like a normal teen. Don't sweat it
