One Mistake

Vigilante justice takes on a new form;
The crows gather into a murder
In an effort to recover the lost artifact.
But they fail, like they always do.

A gathering of murders
Can never result
In achievement,
For each desires the other’s demise.

Only one can be successful
Through the eyes of the daring crow.
Though through the eyes of the cunning eagle,
Everything is black and white (yet plain as day).

There is no color
For the absence of imagination
Is punishable by death
In our system of law.

But what do we do
When the hose spews blood
Out of its nozzle in a rage
Like that of a bull seeing red?

Will the sky now collapse
Onto the mountain range
As depicted in some novel
Read ages ago by that now decrepit old man?

Or will the sun
Flow through the valley
Shining silver like the dime
You dropped down the sewer drain just yesterday?
