Selective mutism? You mean that at times you are unable or unwilling to talk at all? How was this diagnosed and by whom?

Whatever you call what you have (and Selective Mutism, although a problem by itself, sounds more like a symptom of the underlying cause), it sounds like it gets in your way rather significantly. So, it might be a very good idea to go to a therapist to learn more about it and ways to overcome it. Donlt worry about having to talk, b/c it sounds like whatever causes this problem for you is with your peers and in certain social situations. Therapy shouldn't activate this, b/c it's a professional situation with someone trained to understand and accept you.
