You really only need to get circumcised if your foreskin is too tight, in other words, you have trouble pulling it back.
Why do you want to get circumcised exactly?

If you want the advantages/disadvantages. It's best to actually ask someone who wasn't cut and now is.

To be honest, I think there is more advantages to being cut, three being ones you mentioned above. First, I think it would be best to consult your gp/doctor about it, and see what they think. That would be my advice, as it's the safest way.

remember also that it can and will be a painful recovery... I was cut when I was a baby, so I don't remember anything about it...

Also, in my case, they left a bit of foreskin, so I still have to wash it carefully, and it has gotten infected a couple of times before... so I dunno...

Aside from all the phooey you hear from both sides of this unnecessarily emotional topic, the actual advantage to either comes from your opinion of your foreskin, as well as your expectations.

So, if you don't like your foreskin, and have given it some thought, and aren't expecting anything magical as a result, then you can decide to remove it. In your case, removal would eliminate those things you find objectionable, while leaving the function and pleasure of the penis largely intact.

I agree with the poster above who had mentioned that this topic gets unnecessarily emotional, and there is no right or wrong answer as to the benefits or drawbacks of a foreskin. To answer your question directly, if you are having issues with your foreskin that prevents you from having normal urinary or sexual functions or if you are experiencing pain from it that is not going away with medical treatments, then removing it may be your best bet. Folks who have had problems with their foreskins, especially chronic infections and pain, have felt much better after a circumcision. A circumcision is a pretty big step which is why you need to have a frank and open discussion with your doctor and seek information from him/her.

The Mayo Clinic has published a good informational piece on the pros and cons of circumcision, and you should visit: http://www.mayoclinic.com/print/circumcision/PR00040/METHOD=print

Also, the following link from the Department of Health and Human Services might help: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/circumcision.html

In short, if your foreskin is affecting you negatively, then a circumcision might be your best bet.

It's more hygienic even with a foreskin to just pull back when you're urinating.

If you're not pulling the 'skin back when you urinate, then the little flap that overhangs the end will deflect the stream a bit.

Note to all the future fathers who plan on leaving their son's with foreskin: At an early age, teach them to retract and wash in the shower, as well as retract when urinating. Not only is it good hygiene, but it decreases (if not totally eliminates) the probability of retraction tightness and 'tingling'.

Well, as far as I know there are no differences between being circumcised, and not, besides they look different, circumcised penises are a bit more hygienic and like stated in other posts above, with un-circumcised penises there is a risk of the foreskin being tight.

haha. the process of being circumsized kills off alot of nerves and is not as effective sexually or mutually.

this makes masterbation alot harder. i am cut and i hate it. thanks to my tight forskin thy thought of a quick solution instead of trying to fix it. by just circumsing me!

I agree with Brayden, and I think circumcised penises are sexier, but the process of being circumcised would be very painful.

well really it's up to you, but if you clean under your foreskin everyday in the shower you shouldn't have infection. If u pull back your foreskins a lil it makes uriniation easier. if your foreskin is too tight there are steroid creams which have to medically prescribed for you which help strech they foreskin to stop it being too tight, i myself am not circumcised and i am happy and prefer it this way.

BUT i have read many articles on things like this and, no offence to americans of course, but many of the articles have said that american doctors, rather than have to deal with circumicsed penis, rather would have people who have problems with their foreskins have circumcisions rather than alternatives. but really you should discuss this with your doctor and people who were and are in the same position, because as you know, once you are circumcised, you cannot have it reversed.

There's a bit of misinformation! American medical practice is 'prevention based', so doctors typically look to resolve problems permanently. This is also why circumcision used to be 'routine', also.

well most of the time when you are younger the (myself included) over here in australia, when we have our check ups at the GP or hospital (until certain ages) as set out by whoever (Department of Health for the state of which ever state in austalia) your doctor would check to see if you have a problem with your foreskin if you were a boy, rather than the child having to go to the doctor themselves when they were older, and such facing the embarassment, and would tell the parents what to do and use circumcision as a completely last resort unless a patient asks for it (which according to most doctors here, they don't anyway, except from parents of young babies.

But since i am not an american i cannot really comment that well on how the american health system acts with these stuff but i really thing that australia's system is prepared to use all things nessisary to try and prevent surgery as circumcision after a certain age is a some what of a big deal thing in terms of recovery., so really i just go by what other people have said, and this does include doctors.
