but this is the problem
with these pills you cant be smoking or have any history of smoking

It' never, ever a good idea to lie to your MD, esp. when medications are being prescribed! If you're worried about confidentiality, you should ask about that and get the reassurance you need to be truthful. But lying only hurts you, b/c the doc needs accuracy from you to be accurate with her diagnosis and treatment of you.

You should call the doctor tomorrow and give her the accurate info about your smoking (or anything else, ftm).

I'm not sure about child confidentiality, but I think a doctor could lose their job or license for breaking client confidentiality even to family members.

And hopefully, even if that doesn't apply to kids (<18) the doctor will still honor your wishes and keep her mouth shut.

i just can't risk my mom finding out

but i also can't be throwing up ether

i havn't started it yet

Hmmm....I don't know why you go to a doctor you cannot trust.

But, to lie to a doctor is just plain dangerous. So, you either need to ask the doctor about confidentiality, or somehow find a doctor yourself, maybe ask your mom to go to another b/c you don't 'like' this one, but taking medication that is prescribed based on erroneous info you've given should be out of the question.

Call the doctor and ask her about confidentiality before you answer the questions. I think you'll find she's more private than you think she is.

I think you need to talk with her about that. You're entitled to privacy, at least you're entitled to know the limits of that privacy, what she can tell your mom, and what she cannot. Those might need to be clarified.

It's tricky, b/c as a medical professional, she's bound ethically to respect the privacy between you and her, she knows that she cannot treat you unless you feel safe telling her *anything*, yet as a minor, she also knows your mom is entitled to at least some (usually general) info, usually pertaining to your health and well being.

Maybe you need to also talk with your mom generally about your need for privacy with the doctor, too. That might be something worth addresing.

Well, yes, she can't tell your mom legally, however, she asked you for a reason. There are probably interactions that occur between the chemicals in the drugs and the medicine.
I would recommend that you tell your doctor next time. She can't do anything to you other than give you medical advice, and thats purely it. (Not sure about UK laws though)

as a health care worker myself I feel the need to remind you, NOT FOLLOWING A WARNING ON A DRUG CAN, AND OFTEN IS, DEADLY. If your doctor is any good he/she will be used to dealing with situations like this, as well as much more serious. I'd strongly suggest NOT TAKING THE PILLS and go back to your Doctor and talk to him/her

your doctor CANNOT tell your mum anything unless she feels that your life or the life of someone else is at risk. Talk to your doctor, tell her you want to tell her something but your scared of your mum finding out. She'll help find a way.

You need to let your doctor know that you have a history of smoking / still ocntinue to smoke; if you're not supposed to take said medication whilst smoking then don't.

Would be better for you in the long run if you let your doctor know about the smoking, plus as people have said you're entitled to privacy in what you say to him/her.

You definitely need to tell your doctor, as smokers get a different type of contraceptive pill (although the generic escapes me).
Also, if you are from the UK (i think?), then you're Doctor CANNOT tell your parents. Confidentiality of a sexual health nature is relevent from pretty much any age (usually 12-13 onwards).

So tell your GP ASAP!
