here goes. I started doing a really regular workout regimen two days ago after doing barely nothing all winter. you know, situps, pushups, chinups, crunches. and i also went for a run yesterday and played a game of soccer today. so anyways i am REALLY sore. so is this just the result of starting up all this exercise within a short time, or something to be concerned of? should i ice it? i am also gonna take a break from the workout tonight.
thanks

If you've been inactive all winter, your muscles sorta get used to that. So, when you got into what seems to be an absolute frenzy of activity, the physical shock of all that sudden, intense exertion resulted in some muscle strain. Makes sense.

Remember, all things in moderation. So, although it's great to be resuming a more active lifestyle, take into consideration your current state, and ease into it gradually. Your muscles will thank you.

Lay off the work outs for a few days, and resume at a more sane level. Until then, try either ice packs or warm compresses/baths.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me last term with gym class. The stretches would stretch out the muscles in my legs so much that it hurt. Then, when I'd walk in the hallway, my legs would hurt all the time. However, when I had lab during gym, the pain would be gone (or be less) the next day because I hadn't done anything during gym. I don't do much exercise at home (but I'm going to start DDR again soon:D) So yeah, if you're inactive, you're probably just sore and everything. Don't overdo it at the beginning.:)
