I'm interested in getting into the social work field, and I am going to be taking a combo class next year which involves Psychology, Anthropology, and Sociolgy.

Has anyone else taken similar classes? Did you enjoy it?

Someone say "social sciences"?! memememeeme......me!

What do you want to know? it is endlessly fascinating because it is about YOU. What can be bad about that?

I'm doing 3 courses in 2nd year university right now for psychology (abnormal, adult development & aging and neuropsychology). I haven't taken an anthropology class, however, I am doing a detailed course on human anatomy & physiology, which is a recommended course for future med. students. I've also done some courses on evolution of various organisms, basic animal and plant physiology, etc... (not going to list all the courses I've done here).

I can say however, that adult development and aging combines psychology, sociology and biology, although less emphasis on biology.

If it's something about psychology or biology, then I can possibly answer it. However, I haven't taken an actual course in sociology, so what I know of that would be based strictly off of other psychology courses.

What would be the best courses to take in university if im interested in becoming a counselor or social worker of kids in some way? I can understand psychology, and probably sociology aswell. Any thoughts?

Talk with your advisor, they can best direct you. There are a lot of relevant courses which are typically required to be a Psych or Soc major, including those related to the field (psychology, personality, development, etc.), and the ones that are allied, but different, like biology, physiology, etc.

Please keep it on topic... Nothing in the post is helpful to the OP. If you'd like to add that, at least contribute to the post then add it on at the end.
Thanks.

I'd say that psychology would be a must. 2nd year and above courses allow you to specialize which courses you want to take, so talk to your counselor and see what he/she says would be good. I'd assume abnormal psychology, social psychology, personality, perhaps child development, psychotherapy (we have a 3rd year called theories of psychotherapy, I think most universities do), and maybe a few other ones depending on what is offered.

I'm not sure how much, if any, courses you'd need to take in biology, neuropsychology, etc.... . A psychology major generally requires you to take some, however, I doubt you'd need a lot for being a counselor.
