I started cutting about 4 weeks ago. It was after the half-term break and i'd gone back to school after a week of fun. Then it was such a change to what i had been doing in the last week. All the usual bullying and taunting came back. ANd then it felt so overwealming that i went home and cut for the first time. Then i went 4 weeks without cutting and now i have started doing it nearly on a daily basis... i really want to stop. But its hard. I am getting counselling but i cant say it is helping much on the S-H ing front. But i am slowly getting more confident.
Any advice?
*EDIT* Sorry for the long story. Had problems activating account.

Keep talking about it in therapy. And make sure you're going at least once a week.
It takes time to deal with the reasons why you hurt yourself, so you need to work on two fronts here: One is to discover why you do this, what's underlying it. The next is to learn other coping strategies when you're feeling bad, without cutting. To do that takes regular, weekly (or more frequent) therapy with someone with the experience to work on both issues simultaneously. And, some self control and will power on your part.

Take a breather, hun. Stressful family situations are never helpful, but I suggest going for a walk. Is there a park or someplace you can escape to when things like that happen? It's very troubling to think that you're cutting relatively deep and it's only been four weeks. Mine usually just barely break the skin and I've been cutting on and off for four years. Only this year has been getting worse because I've been trying to stop. Keep seeing your counselor and work on this, because you don't want to end up like the description on the "read this before you participate in this forum" post. If you haven't read it yet, go. now. read.
