Jade Goody died in her sleep today, her publicist Max Clifford said.

The reality TV star, who suffered a public battle with cervical cancer, died at her home in Upshire, Essex, at 3.14am on Mother's Day.

Goody's mother Jackiey Budden said: 'My beautiful daughter is at peace.'

Mr Clifford said Goody's mother Jackiey and husband Jack Tweed were at her side. A family friend, Kevin Adams, was also there.

'I think she's going to be remembered as a young girl who has, and who will, save an awful lot of lives," he said, referring to how her public battle with cancer has raised awareness of the disease.

'She was a very, very brave girl,' he said.

'And she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life - full on, with a lot of courage.'

He said it was "ironic" that the 27-year-old - who had two young sons Bobby, five, and Freddie, four - had died on Mother's Day.

Mr Clifford said he hoped Goody's family would be left in peace to grieve.

Goody's body was taken out of her home shortly before 8am.

Speaking outside the home, her mother Jackiey said: "Family and friends would like privacy at last."

Mourners started arriving at the house to pay tribute to Goody within minutes of the news breaking. They left floral tributes at the gates of her home.

Goody's body was placed in the back of an estate car and driven away.

Ms Budden was wearing pyjamas with a coat over the top when she left the house.

Goody's friend Mr Adams, who was dressed all in black, was visibly upset and declined to comment to reporters outside the home.

Later, two police officers arrived at the house.

I was just about to post this..

I wondered how much longer she was going to last, but that's finally it. I'm glad she's not suffering any more though.

I think she's done a great job in raising the awareness of cancer. I heard on the radio that the amount of people going to the doctors to be checked out has increased a lot over the past couple of months.

RIP Jade

I have a different opinion on this story, which to me has been an orgy of sick voyeurism. What about the 1000's of other cancer sufferers who cant make a quick buck (million pounds in fact) by selling their story? No suggestion of the money going to charity to help fight the disease or to help other sufferers. Hope the papers and tv can get back to reporting some real news now.

I do understand what you are saying. But the awareness she's raised is what's good.

And she had weeks to live and two kids. She wanted the money for her kids which is fair enough. She can do what she likes with that money.

Agreed 100%.

I know some of you are going to hate me for saying this but, I honestly couldn't care less about her... I just saw an advert for a magazine... "Mourn the death of the nation's favourite reality star." I mean, come on! She got "famous" for being ignorant and racist... I'm not the only one who said "finally" when I heard the news.

The raised awareness is great... But, I'd hate for everyone to know my mum had / died of cancer. I think it's really harsh for her kids having to go through all this, I mean, my friends (most of them) agree that publicising her illness was so tacky.
