View Full Version : Virus?

Ok, I have my GCSE's soon and I wanna be in top mental and physical state for them.

But I think I have a virus. Whenever I breath deeply, I wheeze, my nose is clear, but my ears feel 'full' and i'm mentally exhausted and pretty tired physically. I haven't felt this tired before.

I'm worried about a ringing I have in my ears, it's high pitched and soft, kinda like an accompanying sound. I did listen to headphones very loudly for about three months, six months ago, and I listened to them loudly for about 45 minutes, waited about 5 hours, then another 45 minutes (school trip journey).

Should I see a doctor?

Um...if you think you have a virus then, yes, I suggest you go see a doctor. As for the ringing, yeah the loud music could have caused that. Loud music=bad side affects, although I'm not sure what they are. If you weeze, then you could have anywhere from a cold-walking neumonia. (I think I spelled that wrong, but oh well). You also could have asthema.

Modern medicine is notoriously bad at treating viruses, b/c basically they cannot be treated, they need to run their course. Unlike bacterial infections, which respond to antibiotics, virals do not. So, if you've got a virus, get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids, Tylenol for fever.

Factoid: Bacterial infections, esp. of the upper respiratory tract, cause lots of mucus/phelgm, usually green or white and thick. Virals cause wither a clear, runny liquid, or nothing.

If you see a doctor, then don't expect some little pill to make it go away. Anti-bacterial medications tend to rarely work on viruses and fungi.

Bacterial infections, esp. of the upper respiratory tract, cause lots of mucus/phelgm, usually green or white and thick. Virals cause wither a clear, runny liquid, or nothing.

This.

Could it be that the ringing is caused by the virus? I've heard that they can sometimes, like infections cause ringing, cos otherwise I don't know how I got tinnitus, cos for 6 months my ears have been fine.

Yes, ringing inthe ears can be caused by any upper respiratory infection (or obviously any ear infection). Anything that causes the sinuses to swell (typical for URI) can cause that ringing.
