Is menstruation when a woman is on her period and ovulation when a woman is producing ovum?

Yes.
Ovulation is the releasing of an egg (ova) from the ovaries.
Menstruation is when a woman has her period.

That should answer your question...

Ovulation= the release of the egg (ovum) from the ovary, usually around day 14.

Menstruation= 'Monthly', the shedding of the uterine lining, usually at about day 28 (a month), also known as 'the period'.

A nifty factoid: A girl baby is born with a lifetime's worth of ova, each one ripening and maturing on a monthly basis and released.

Guys are constantly producing new sperm throughout life.

Sperm are the smallest cells in the body.

Ova ('eggs') are the largest, you can actually see them unaided, with the naked eye, they appear as a very small dot!

(Talk about yin and yang)!
