Art Class

At my latest art class we did portraiture and life drawing.
These are the results:
We had to draw someone off a magazine cover. I did Stephen Harper.

As you can see, I'm not a Stephen Harper fan.

Then we got a model to do poses, these are 2 and 3 minute poses.

^ Thats a 30 min pose. I have 4 sheets of ten second poses. :yeah:
Any thoughts?

Throwing some critique out there, not meant to be insulting. I don't know what level class you're taking, so I'll just address it like I would with my stuff.

Facial Structure Crap for the top two:
-The head is too wide and too short
-No eyebrows
-The jaw is too squared and undefined.
-Missing cheek definition
-Missing forehead definition
-As a rule of thumb, the bottom of the ear should match the tip of the nose
-The nostrils are a little too small compared to the tip of the nose.
-Ear is a little too rounded.

I could nitpick a lot more, but a lot of the things I'm mentioning will come with time as you progress as an artist. The thing that helped me understand portraits a lot more was sculpting a face out of clay. As you draw more, you'll get more coordination between your brain and your hand which will make drawing a lot easier. A lot of the smudging and shaky lines and such will go away.

If you're super into art, ask your teacher for an anatomy book. A little studying would probably cut my list down.

What the hell do you have against Harper, but aside from that the drawings are decent, dyslexiaa points are great so yeah.
