Well I just came across how to do this [this is the image shown later :P] and it's rather simple, but I think it looks really cool! :D

It's pretty cool. The tutorial lacks some steps, so you kind of have to personalize, and make stuff up. But overall it works well :D
I like the Dissolve part of the tutorial, but I didn't really want it on this particular thing :P

uummm, my comp is currently lacking photoshop...lol...is there a way to do this with another program that is free/downloadable? i might be able to get my hands on my dad's finance's photoshop...maybe

The best alternative to Photoshop would be Gimp. It's sometimes a bit different than phhotoshop, and will probably require different tutorials, but it's free, open source, and works prety damn well in my opinion.

atm, i am trying to use paint.net (not paint) its going...ok, but it hasn't really got that many tools

(edit): i am most likely getting GIMP, but i will probably have to wait until the 18th, til our bandwidth renews >.<
