Hey Vt Staff, Will here with my 348th post, 37th started thread. Today, I reported a thread earlier today in Puberty 101, and later, went back to see what had happened, if anything, to it. After searching through all the possible places it could reasonably be, and searching it, I found nothing. Finally, I went to my history and noticed it was there. I clicked on it, but it showed a page saying shortly, "Were sorry, Sbrocksdaworld, but you don't have permission to access this page." or so....

I am wondering, what happened? Did a Moderator or Admin delete this thread, or do something not known to regular members?

Just being observant and curious,
-Will

It was most likely deleted, thus no one except the mods of that forum (and senior staff) can see it.

Yeah, after you reported it, it was deleted and handled appropriately.

Thank you for using the report service and keeping VT clean.

Have a great day!

There are two types of deletion: Soft deletion and hard deletion. Technically speaking, hard deletion means the thread is gone "forever" (though if you're good enough with computers, almost nothing is "gone forever"). If the thread was hard deleted (which I don't know what circumstances would incline for that to happen) you probably wouldn't have seen the thread anywhere. As it was soft deleted (and kind of "stored away") it was "sent" to a "restricted area" where only mods/admins can see said thread. So the thread wasn't really "deleted" as it was "moved to a 'restricted area.'" But yeah, for all intents and purposes it went bye-bye and is no longer going to sore the eyes of the VT populace.

Well not really. Some sites have "Trash Bins" where they simply move deleted material but at VT we have an option provided that allows us to delete a thread and it would still be there its just invisible unless youre a staff. But on here we dont really "move it" its still in its place, its just invisible. On other sites they do that though

Yep the soft delete keeps the thread there, just allows you do 'Undelete' if need be.
I will add, staff does have a private forum. It's not necessarily a secret, yet also not necessarily talked about. However it is not "something not known to regular members". :P

Yea, well I think most older members had a notion that one existed...I would hope...

I first knew for sure when Alex said "I have posted in excess of 8,500 posts. (Our hidden forums don't have post count)" on his goodbye blog :P

It's kind of obvious when you see mods on the active members list, and their activity is, "Viewing Thread", no more information than that. Suspicious.... :P
