Well, you really don't have to tell your parents. I know it's hard, but just come up with a legitimate excuse and you should be fine. I went 1 1/2 years without my parents knowing!

I completely understand your situation. I've been in two long term relationships, and my parents found out only the first one, and that was months after it happened. The problem with me is that i'm embarrassed to admit I'm doing it for some reason. I like handling it myself and not having other people involved and bothering me about it. It's a pain in the ass to avoid telling them, but you don't have to tell them. Let them tease all they want, they'll figure it out eventually.

I don't get what the big deal is...
I guess it depends on your parents views and how you were raised.
Personally, I couldn't care less, I just tell 'em.

I used to only tell my mom until my dad got completely ridiculous about the teasing, saying all my guy-friends were my boyfriends, eventually I just said "Well, no, Patrick, Mike, Parker, Cody, Cameron, Levi, Levi (i know 2 levi's), Clayton and Ryan are NOT my boyfriends. But _____ is."
Okay, I put all those names up there because I would NEVER go out with them. The blank is because I just felt like it... =P

I guess I got lucky since my parents just let me start dating when I wanted to start...
You can always keep it a secret, but eventually you will feel like you are betraying your parents. When the time is right, just talk to them about dating. They'll understand if you have a one on one (but this also depends on your age).
And also, don't forget to mention you're interested in girls.
